One more Dream Theater thread?
I missed any threads about the new album, Octavarium, if any existed, so I was wondering if people could point me in the direction of old threads.
If these threads don't exist, then... how do DT fans feel about the album? I rather disliked it at first, but like it now. I don't think it is as good as many of their previous efforts though. And the song "I Walk Beside You" is terrible...

1. i liked it.
while i do not feel it is as good as Six Degrees or Scenes from a Memory, I enjoy how the first track, the Root of All Evil worked right alongside This Dying Soul. I liked it about as much as I did Train of Thought. I haven't seen any other threads about it, I tried a couple of times to talk about it in other threads, with little success.

"I Walk Beside You" really is a shitty song.

I am anxiously awaiting the 6 hour "evening with Dream Theater" tour that is coming following the conclusion of the Gigantour.

3. I really do not like that track
But yeah, the rest of the album is great. I'm really digging the title track.

I wish they would do "An Evening With Dream Theater' shows again. I was at the WDADRU show last year. I still say it's the best concert I've ever been to.

2. It may appear as thought I am trying to save my own thread but... yeah....
The "Evening With" tour should be pretty great. Sadly, I live in Louisville KY and so they probably won't come too close, but they will probably go to Chicago. That isn't that bad of a drive.

Did anyone else think that this album showed much more influence from Genesis than their previous albums? Many parts of the song "Octavarium" in particular seemed to be particularly Genesis-y, and I got a Genesis feeling from some of the keyboard parts in "These Walls".
