One of my own.
Not digitally produced but digitally enhanced subsequent to its production, I thought a few of you might find it of interest.

It is a detail of an oil painting, 30 inches square (roughly the middle 24 inches across) entitled Lumina. The moray patterning is not a property of the painting but is an 'artifact' that occurs when a photograph of the painting is viewed at a certain percentage of full resolution (in this case, 66.6%).

1. That is so cool ...
It looks like it could be a pixel of anything . From finger waved hair , to a digitalized tunnel that goes on endlessly to a record that has been warped and melted .

4. Thanks!
I thought a few of you might get a kick out of this. The actual painting looks even more like hair -- and these paintings are, not unintentionally, like cosmic vortexes. Deep inner space and inter-dimensional warping.

17. Hello, Beam -- The picture reminds me of the grooves on old
vinyl and shellac recordings. Warped pretty good, of course.

9. I like it too. An artist named Robert Indiana painted the original "LOVE"
version back in the 60s.

I was there and I wasn't square.

10. Rambling is good, IMHO!
See, now I know something about you, something that will help me understand you when I encounter you next time...So Rage Against the Machine is a rock group, right? I know I've heard of them, but I don't recall the context. I don't listen much to rock music any more.
Did you find that avatar here at DU? Is it one of the choices, or did you bring it in from the outside? Just curious; I'm endlessly curious!

they were a rock group formed in the early 90s... broke up in the year 2000, they infused their music with hiphop style lyrics. every song is political in nature on some level or another.

they knew what they were talking about too, their guitarist was a harvard poli sci grad, and nephew of Jomo Kenyatta, first president of kenya. their lead singer was the son of a noted chicago political activist and artist.

often they focused their causes around race issues, but every now and then they would hit up a national issue. almost all of their profits from concerts went to one reputable organization or another, such as ACLU and others.

theyve made headlines more than once, theyve done free concerts outside of the stock exchange (among other places) after a company did record layoffs, and announced record profits...they got pissed so they held a concert effectivley rendering the area shut down with all the traffic, they had to close the stock exchange in the middle of the day. all for a few songs and shooting a music video.

and i made the avatar when the custom avatar thing was put in awhile ago... and dont think ill ever change, honestly.

7. Thank you. They are even more intense in real life because they MOVE

or, rather, the angle of the light moves across the surface as the viewer moves. Moreover, because we look at things with bifocal vision, the experience of three dimensionality is EXTREME. Looking at one people often say to me, "I can't see it as flat. My mind knows it IS flat, but it still doesn't LOOK flat even though I know it is."

I wish I could figure out a way to get the moray effect in the actual painting itself. Baring that, the photographs will have to do.

And likewise, weird...looks like a "fools the eye" sort of painting...The perspective is crazy...Very cool!

11. Fools the "mind" more than they eye. "Realist" painters employ
techniques to do that, too. I'm interested in a lot of different things such as 'energy fields' and relationships between temporal and extratemporal dimensions.

:hi:

12. Hi there, Beam Me Up!
I was checking out your userprofile, and I see you're in Oakland...NoCal! I'm in Manhattan Beach, SoCal, next door to LAX...

Would you care to enlarge on your comments to me? I'm not sure I follow them, esp. that last sentence. Do your interests tie in with how you make your living?

I'm heading off to bed; See you later!

14. CaliforniaPeggy
Yep, NoCal is my home.

I was just kind of rambling also. Just saying that my paintings aren't "realistic" in the usual sense of the word but are reflections on and expressions of the things that interest me.

Thanks for checking me out :)

Thanks, hypno. Usually I get by on spell check but I wasn't sure of the correct spelling on this one.
