So, who's familiar with Spring, Texas?
Yes, I'm still on my hunt to find the best house for the least money in a place with no winter ...

So anyone know what's up with Spring, Tx? Why can you get such a great house there for so little money? The same houses that would sell here in New York for $3 million dollars (no kidding) are $200,000 there. Why? It is a toxic waste dump or something?

Good Morning! :hi:

1. Houston in general has the most reasonably priced housing in the US

Stay away from Friendswood and Pearland (south and southeast) - that's where the real toxic sites are.

Spring is just average suburbia - nothing negative that I'm aware of - their 'Old Town' section is a popular antiquing spot for weekenders.
Watch the railroad tracks - there is a lot of train traffic nearby.

5. The Woodlands is a 'planned' community north of Houston...
...it's outside of Harris County so some people like that (alledgedly cheaper insurance, etc.) but the commute can be terrible, if you have to come in to town.

I'm not a big planned community fan, so it's not for me. But many many many many people love it up there.

7. Doesn't sound good
I think I'll avoid the whole "planned" thing too.

4. I live in Spring, Texas
Maybe the housing costs are so low because 99% of the population seems to be Republican.

Discounting that, it's actually a great place to live. Lots of trees, quick route to Houston via Hardy Toll Road, and great shopping. It's located close to The Woodlands, which is developing a cool river walk with good restaurants. Also, there's the Cynthia Woods Pavilion, which is an open air concert hall that has symphonies and major artist concerts. And, as mentioned before, there's Old Town Spring, which is simply a cool place to visit.

Move here, we need more liberals!!!!!!!!
