2. Don't be so puzzled, I'm guessing that's why a popular copy
only goes so far ;-)

3. I have the actual vinyl around here somewhere
IIRC, the beginning of Side 2 was the coolest part of the whole album (yegads I'm old!). :)

4. The only problem with Tubular Bells is that it ends...
A great piece of music, not meant to be listened to by, in Mike's words, 'cloth-eared nincompoops'...

7. He's made about 20 other albums...
He also remade TB in 2003 because the recording technology in 1973 was pretty primitive...his fans rate his album Amarok as his best.

10. Anyone who likes Tubular Bells...
.... should find these two subseqent albums.

Ommadawn - with beautiful 20-minute piece complete with African drumming (1974!).

Hergest Ridge - just an incredible recording, impossible to describe.

You will not be dissapointed with either of these if you'll take the time to listen a few times.

Oldfield's done a gazillion albums, the only other one that really stands out is a 2-album work called Incantations. Not as good as Ommadawn or Hergest Ridge, but that would be near impossible :)
