Do You Look Your Age? Younger? Older?
My horseshoe-shaped hairline really makes me look older than I am. The only thing left to do now is just keep it short-short high-and-tight (like Cal Ripken) and live with it.

I knew it was all downhill from here when I stopped getting carded for booze in restaurants.

2. Much, much, younger.
I'm 30+ and I keep being told I look 18 - 21. THe fact that I still wear the same jeans and t-shirts I did when I was in highschool dosen't hurt the image. I've toyed with the idea of volunteering as some sort of police highschool plant.

It sucks when it comes time for dating though. The women I want to chase think I'm too young, and the ones hitting on me are way too young most of teh time.

I'm 24 and I look 30, it sucks. I don't get it a few years ago I looked younger than my age, then WHAMMM!!! I think it was the nonstop drinking, smoking, travelling, and other such things. - I have since quit smoking, and cut down on drinking (sometimes)

4. I look at least 10 years younger than I am.
I kind of always have. When I was a teenager I hated it, but it started working for me in my thirties. Now I'm 49 and pass for mid-thirties. I love to tell people my age after they've known me for a while, just to see the looks on their faces.

13. I dunno... but
at the Independence Day Fireworks, there was a Latina girl sitting near my husband. She and some other folks there were talking about out kids. I said that I hadn't had more than the one because I was thirty-six when he was born (he's now eleven). And she said something like, "You're kidding! You don't look that old!" :eyes:

But later my husband told me she was chatting him up when I wasn't looking and even asked him to go to Disney World with him.

So, I guess she thought I was an OLD dog.

Ah hypocrisy....

18. Well, I don't know. When my 83 year old dad was in St. Joe's in Atlanta ..
... for his esophogectomy in May, I had an Episcopal rector and a neurologist ask me if I was his brother(I'm 55)! I am solid gray with a gray Hemmingway-like beard. Dad's hair is so close-cropped that he looks younger than his 83 years. So I guess it was not totally unreasonable for them to think I might be his brother.

22. Both.
I still get hit on by 19 and 20 year olds, and I get carded at the liquor store. One young thing behind the counter even had the grace to be utterly dumbfounded by my actual age and assure me that "You sure don't look it." And by the expression on his face, I could tell he really meant that.

On the other hand, some years back something incredibly sad and hard to deal with happened in my life. Since that time, folks who know me especially, keep telling me that something in my eyes looks incredibly old. Not that I have deep laugh-lines or some other badge of honour that comes with a life well-lived, just that something about my eyes has the look of someone who's been around for a century or two and seen enough to grow weary.

26. Want to know your real age?
Try this: www.realage.com

You answer A LOT of questions about your various habits and histories, and it tells you whether you are older or younger than your actual age.
It's interesting. Apparently I am about 6 months younger than my actual age -- I intend to spend those extra 6 months painting on the beach in Barbados, by the way.

41. I took the Real Age test and was disappointed
it made me out to be 3 1/2 years older than I am. Trouble is, even if I took every one of their recommendations, it would still calculate me 2 years older than I am, largely b/c of the breast cancer in my immediate family. Nuts to that.

42. I can do both
I can either look my age or look younger than I am. I'm also 5 ft tall with a softer, more rounded face. No Katherine Hepburn cheekbones on me!

A lot of it has to do with clothing and makeup. If I wear minimal makeup with jeans and t-shirts I will usually get carded.

If I'm dressed in professional attire, nobody would mistake me for a high school student.

31. I'm almost 21, and I've been mistaken for a junior high student.
I don't really look it, I do look a little bit younger, tho. However, one day this past winter, I was going to an 8th grade band concert that my younger brother was in at his school. I decided to roam the halls before the show, because that was also where I went to school. Reminiscing, ya know. So I was by this office, and I was talking with this lady about my brother being in the concert, and she asked me "Oh, do you go to this school??". And I'm like "LADY!!! I GRADUATED from high school two YEARS AGO!!!!" I felt pretty miffed after that.

Also, I was at the Minnesota State Fair on my 18th birthday, and while my mother was at the "Guess your age" booth, I got into a conversation with a lady (middle aged or so), and I asked her what she thought my age was, and she said "13???". And I was just DUSGUSTED after that, and explained to her that today was my 18th birthday, etc. etc., and she said that I didn't look 18.

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

32. An enigma
When I was younger, I looked older. I had no problems getting into R rated movies when I was 12, and that was at a theatre that carded religiously. I once couldn't see a movie with my girlfriend when I was 15 because they carded her... after I had bought my ticket, of course.

But now I look alot younger than my age. I'm almost 26, and when I was working with my dad last week, he was telling the person at this house that I hadn't been able to find a job since I graduated. The person asked what high school I graduated from. :D I'm constantly told I look maybe 17 or 18. Some friends of mine took me out gambling about a year ago, and I had to wear a big orange wristband so I wouldn't get followed around by security all night. It was a torture that my friends didn't have to endure (I say "friends," but when I got into a political conversation with my liberal friend right before Christmas, her RW, alcoholic, ex-army boyfriend grabbed a knife and chased me out of their house... I haven't talked to them since).

I'm 45 and still get "carded" for alcohol purchases occasionally.

The funniest thing that happens is when I meet a much younger woman (e.g. coworker, someone in a bar, etc.). When I tell them my age and they realize I'm about as old as or older than their father sometimes the look on their faces is priceless.

When I visited her recently in the nursing home, one of the attendants thought that I was a patient who had wandered into the wrong room. It seems to be a genetic problem. My father always looked 20 years older than his actual age. His high school grad photo looked like about age 38 and half-bald already. I have been completely bald since 24.

54. I used to look older than I was, now I'm looking younger-
Basically, my looks haven't changed much in the last 25 years...when I was 16, I could pass for 21, without an ID in liquor stores and bars.

71. Well, damn. I've been growing all this white fur, see.....
Nah. Rabbit suit aside, my family greys early, although we keep our hair.

I'm 36, but my hair looks like the dude in the Grecian Forumla commercials, as in, "Wife likes tough of grey left around the edges...."

73. How can I know??????
The questions is impossible really.

How do I know what I'm supposed to look like at any given age?

Most people say I look a lot younger than my age, but how should I look for my age? (This is really independent from you age, since the questions is valid for any age)

76. I'm only a freshman and I almost got mistaken for 18
In Mexico, I almost could've gone to a nightclub with the guy who lived in the house I was staying in... sigh. oh well, I suppose the rents wouldn't be too happy if they knew I had gone to a Mexican club... :-)

79. Younger -- But I'm probably also immature
My family tends to have slow-aging genes. My parents both looked younger than their years. So do I. Was a pain in the butt when I was young, but as time progresses I'm glad. I got carded a couple of times when I was in my 40's. Doesn't happen anymore, but at 50 people say I look like I could be in my 30's.

At some point I'll probably age ten years overnight, but hopefully that won't happen until I'm advanced enough in years that it won't matter.
