Started painting after I moved to Switzerland a few years ago. It was the only way I could legally make a living, and I somehow got good enough at it to make money. Weird, huh? (I count my blessings every day.) :hi:

I finished another painting (will post it this weekend), which relieved a good deal of stress (I have an exhibit starting soon), played with my cat, went for a walk in the woods and hung out a little with Mr. Heidi and my 13-year-old goddaughter. I love the way the air smells toward the end of summer!

I'm flying to next Thursday (to RDU). NWA says they're going to continue bidness as usual during the strike (if it happens), but as a union member I really hate to cross picket lines.

unfortunately, i live in one of NWA's hub cities, and they control about 80% of air traffic out of MSP, and the only airline with a non-stop to RDU. otherwise, i have to change planes at least once, and a 2.5 hour trip becomes a 5 hour trip. "Give me convenience or give me death!" :crazy:

I'm pretty eclectic. Classical guitar is my favorite, but I also like other classical, rock, jazz, blues, and rap.

On my show I play everything from Edith Piaf to Hank Williams to Motorhead, often in the same set!

I used to be a working musician for years; I play guitar, bass, and dulcimer, though I'm recording a CD now that's kind of a whacked-out version of folk music..

putting off bed so it feels like i have some 'me' time between work shifts...

its weird, i work in a music store and in my free time i plink around on a guitar or whatnot... its pathetic really. only reason it wears me down is school season is starting up and everyone's 11 year old needs a trumpet or a clarinet. crabby parents and long lines, fun stuff this time of year.

this time of year is worse than xmas. i cant tell you how many times ive been yelled at by parents because they didnt think a saxaphone was 'that expensive'. i dont control the prices, i just explain the products.

172. I know it. If any of those parents had ever listened

to a fifth-grade practicing the chromatic scale on a sax, they wouldn't even consider that instrument. I know my family was extremely grateful when my brother gave up sax. Talk about an expensive alternative to a duck-call. :rofl:

they say i spent all that money for THIS? or at least their happy that it can be returned via one of our plans, but its odd, their happier when they come in to return it than when they take it home.

i love the rest of the year, its either slack or theirs a line out the door, and you can predict the times of the year that will be the worst, anything else you can grab a book and sit and read, practice or just jam with your coworkers... whatever. its a good gig for a student.
