1. 63% yes
Hooray! And I don't think anyone had to DU it. Most people that harbor cardiac activity in their chest cavity see the cruelty in leaving pets behind. What happened in NO was TRAGIC!!!!! Of half a million estimated pets, they estimate they saved only 5,000. TRAGIC. It just breaks my heart thinking about it. There are actually dogs here in SF from Katrina, although these are ones that they emptied the shelters of there in Louisiana to make room for the Katrina pet victims.

4. Who the heck are those 37% ? This is a completely non-partisan issue.
So the estimate of 50,000 pets in NOLA was very low? Some put the animal population, including feral cats, at around 300,000.
I spoke with someone tonight who said that the human population of NOLA was roughly 240,000 and that 63% of households there
reportedly had AT LEAST one pet.

... Then add in the feral kitties. :(

Did you check out this thread? Very sad.

I guess my pet population figures were too low. I just used the 50,000 number because I had read it so many times.

3. Thanks, Robeson :)
Did you see? More flooding in NOLA and more people being forced to leave their pets behind.
Gen. Honore broke his promise ... Again :(
