Because the "Girl from Monday" (2005) sure makes it look that way.

It's not a bad fake sci-fi flick if you like Hartley's style of movie making. OTH I'm sure some would rather stab their eyes out with #2 pencils rather than watch the digitally filmed oddly produced visuals.

Either way it's got all sorts of rants about "branding" and corporate control. Lots and lots and lots! Actually one corporation "Triple M" is the leader of the "revolution" that IS the "Dictatorship of the Consumer".

People ARE commodities, traded on a stock exchange, their "value" based on sexual partners and consumption. When somebody fucks up real bad they are sentenced to, tah dah, teach High School for a few years!

Every morning the kids pass through the security gate, unload their Glocks, then pop a cocktail of behavioral modification drugs.

Oh there's even a plot to sell the kids some hyper energy cola that may interact rather badly with the downers...
