I hate that freaking 'followup flag' in email
Some new shithead here is sending me requests flagging them for followup like I don't fucking know how to complete requests made of me. :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

Big hint.... if you flag something for me I'll intentionally put it off just to piss you off. Normally, I have a turnaround of less than 15 minutes so it's not wise to do that with me.

Is it me? (I know it is :D but I doubt I'm alone ) I'm just wondering if it annoys others who get that from those who have no business reminding us of how to get their job done.

1. Well, I'm not sure what the follow up flag is, but I really hate
when someone attaches a return receipt to an email. Demanding proof that someone got your email seems to be a bit much, ya ask me.

3. I only use the return receipt very sparingly
and in situations which warrant it.

6. My email client
(Thunderbird) asks if I want to send the return receipt. I never send one. I figure it's none of the person's business if/when I've read his/her email.

15. The second thing I configure in ANY e-mail program I install is
to ignore receipt requests. Right after configuring SMTP and POP3 servers.

2. Argh!
Yeah, and then they recommend that I use that feature, because it is oh so efficient... :puke:

The Angels are up 3-1 in the 3rd! Lou Piniella is one of the announcers, woohoo!

The Angels arrived in Chicago 3AM Central Time. I would have thought tonight's game would be Houston and St. Louis, since they both have had a break. But I am not complaining.

:loveya:

5. I have one business contact
that treats emails like some international treaty or something. Drives me crazy. Three distinct emails, return receipt on all of them, every time we have a transaction. Incredibily complicated instructions: one must be printed out, then shredded upon completion of the task; the second must be responded to in handwriting; the third I forget, but I think there's something about it self-destructing, and strangely, I'm always addressed as "Jim."

10. LOL Jim
sounds like someone has watched too much Mission Impossible.

It's their sense of self-importance I guess.

14. I make it a point to ignore those
Oh, I'll do whatever it is they're asking for, but damned if I'm going to bow and scrape for some officious control freak by giving them their oh-so-precious followup. If the deliverable is something that would be emailed, they'll get it under separate cover.

I notice that it's never anyone who really matters doing this, either--usually some mid-level doofus who thinks they're all that, but sadly, aren't.

I like the way you think - 'some mid-level doofus' - exactly right in this case :-)

Followup Flags?

Return Receipts?

What are those?

(That's my story and I'm sticking to it...)
