I'm toilet training my cat! And it's going very well.
I got this insert that goes under the toilet seat that trains them to see the toilet as a litter box. Frankie is totally getting it! Soon I won't have to use the insert at all. I'll just have to flush the toilet for him when he's done.

Hallelujah! No more litter box! Woo-hoo!

I trained my cat Frankie to use the toilet and now I can't get in there. All day long it's "bang! bang! bang! frankie, are you done yet? Come on, I need to use the bathroom too!"

I keep finding issues of Cat Fancy magazine stuffed behind the toilet tank. And he's using all the two-ply. Today I found a hastily scrawled note that read "Chamin hurt. Want Northern with aloe".

And, my toothbrush was wet when I picked it up last night...

(and later)

Have abandoned the bathroom altogether. Pulled the old literbox out of storage. Now my friends think I've adopted a mountain lion. Note to self, clumping litter is a hassle, get cedar chips.

18. You laugh but when my husband and I only had one bathroom
there were times, first thing in the morning when he'd lock himself in the bathroom to get ready, that I *seriously* considered going in the litter box. I will NEVER go back to sharing a bathroom with him again.

3. From Frankie ( the present)
I've wanted to use the throne that she's been using for years but she always had her big ass on it whenever I wanted to use it. I hated the litter box she forced me to use. I deserve a throne.
Now that I have the throne, I've got to work on getting the bed to myself.

using my computer when I'm not home. You could get us all arrested for kitty porn!

4. I read somewhere they can learn to flush, too.
Haven't tried it myself and I don't have a link. We have 4 cats ... not sure I want to share the toilet with them. I have heard of people doing this. The litter box is a hassle. Hmmm... perhaps I should rethink this. Good luck!

:hi:

7. Someone in my office is trying it with her three cats. That's where
I got the idea. Now all my friends with cats want to try it. I think it's going to work, fingers crossed.

9. Keep us updated on the progress.
I just read that it's harder with multiple cats. But I'm getting really tired of that litter box!

13. My friend said it will take her three cats a little longer than my one
cat, but it's definitely working. She's taken the litter box away entirely and all three are used to doing their business in the toilet now. Next she'll slowly wean them off the insert with litter so they'll be going directly in the toilet.

I will keep you posted. I'm not at the stage where I have removed the litter box yet, but I should be there tomorrow or the next day.

16. That's incredible!
It sounds like you're going to be completely successful. I can just see me trying to sell this to my husband. Perhaps I should put him in charge of the litter box first.

17. Just stop cleaning it for a few days, he'll be much more receptive to
the idea. ;) I thought my husband was going to think I was a loon, but he was fine with it. Right now I have to deal with having litter all over my bathroom floor from Frankie tracking it out of the box, but it's a small price to pay.

19. Well, we just got over some serious health issues with the Abys.
We almost lost them. They're using the litter box now and doing well. But with IBD and renal problems, they broke their training a bit and we have to keep the box clean right now. We might have to wait a little to make sure they're doing well. Perhaps in a few months, we can give it a try. I think the other two would be fine with it.

10. Well, actually, he's done that for years. I think toilet training him
might actually cure him of that habit. Which would be another bonus!

14. Frankie's pretty particular about not having his food/water near
his litter box. So I have a feeling if he starts to associate the toilet with his litter box, he'll *stop* associating it with a water bowl. I hope *fingers crossed*. :)
