Fuck Rove. And Fuck American Narcissism.
So there was an article recently on how Americans are rude and "getting ruder." Many factors - some scientifically viable and some not - were given.

But the one issue at hand is my estimation that about 1/3 of the country is comprised of f'ing narcissists.

Want to know why Bush still receives 30-40% approval ratings? Who wants to bet that these folks believe admitting a problem with Bush means admitting a problem with themselves.

Why? They, too, are narcissists.

We all are guilty of being rude to others at one point or another. How about, collectively, Americans admitting that at times we can be petty, spiteful and puerile? Unable to admit fault? Picking on others, well, 'cause we can? It's bullying at a societal level. We don't have a sense of community, hence, we pick on the other for innocuous differences. You don't fit in? F you.

Rove is simply the macrocosmic view of many of our population. Greedy, self-indulgent, and sickened with social Darwinism. We toss the weak aside like ragdolls then wonder why our nation isn't unified.

There needs to be a change - perhaps a growing up period. It starts with our collective rejection of folks like Karl Rove who score by feeding off the livelihoods of others. Then we should take a deep look at ourselves.

The End.

:applause:

And of course, most of the narcissists who keep supporting this criminal shitbag don't have anything worth being narcissistic about. They are small* people, and they know it. And it bugs the shit out of them.

*And I don't mean small penis (though that might be); they are just, in general, as people, small. Small-minded, cowardly, yellow-bellied, insignificant, afraid of others, filled with fear of their own inadequacy, and on and on and on...

4. Small penis? Yes, absolutely.
It's not just about a small penis, it is ABSOLUTELY concerning small penises! I personally won't shy away from that. ;)

Stepping away from crudeness, however, your metaphor stands firm. They are small minded, caught in personal myopia.

2. You are on to something
I have a theory about why this is so prevalent in america. Advertising.
It places the the consumer and their wants, needs and desires as paramount in life. It reminds the consumer they are deserving - no - they are OWED.

It starts at a very young age with advertising directed at children. It creates people submissive to the advertising message, who are then submissive to others with the congratulatory, feel good message, such as Rove/Bush.

Advertising more than anything, including religion, has formed the american psyche. It's all about ME!!!! And if there is anything in the political landscape that prevents me from getting more stuff - it must be abolished.

3. Advertising does appeal to vanity and fear
that we won't "fit in" unless we make certain decisions. God forbid!

Further, many of us believe that we are DUE the Ethan Allen lifestyle advertised on reality programming. It doesn't matter if we ring up 10K+ in credit card debt, we got ours!

My favorite SNL skit was about five years ago featuring Jennifer Aniston who was making damned well sure her child had the BEST Pokimon cards. "I'm not going to let MY kid be the unpopular kid."

F'ing losers.

5. Nice rant
I'm caught trying to get some young folks to see this: your choices make a difference. Being self-absorbed hurts everybody.

I don't know how to teach these lessons; perhaps experience will be the best instructor.

I dunno, but nice rant, anyhooo.

7. Thanks. Here's what I would tell those young folks...
there never has been a person who has risen to the top by stepping on others. If anything else, stepping on others is the quickest ticket to getting stuck in middle management for the rest of your career.

8. Yeah, that's the problem.
This nation needs a little internal bloodletting. That way, we can reprioritize so that LIFE actually means more than STUFF and SOCIAL ONE-UPMANSHIP.

11. Very well said
I've always thought the difference between repugs and democrats was that repugs were fundamentally selfish and democrats care about the good of society as a whole, a concept they try to malign by labeling it "communism."
