'Boil wash' cat killer is jailed
'Boil wash' cat killer is jailed
By David Sapsted
(Filed: 19/10/2005)

A mother who deliberately killed the family cat in a washing machine was jailed for six weeks yesterday.

It took up to 10 minutes for Fluffy, a female cat that just previously had kittens, to die last November after Holly Thacker put it in the machine on boil wash because it had scratched her. The cat broke all its claws as it tried to escape, Norwich magistrates were told.

Thacker, 34, a mother of three, had laughed as she told Simon Thacker, her ex-husband, what she had done, Jonathan Eales, prosecuting for the RSPCA, told the court.

When an RSPCA inspector went to Thacker's home he found Fluffy's body in the bin in a carrier bag. Mr Eales said that Mark Bestbier, a vet, concluded that the cat may have taken as long as 10 minutes to die and its skin was red, suggesting immersion in hot water.

5. They should seriously investigate how she treats her kids
Killing a cat for scratching her isn't too far a step from beating her children and other "punishments" for perceived bad behavior.

7. That woman's children need to be removed from the home
there is no telling what she will do to them if this is what she did when the cat scratched her.

What is wrong with people???

8. horrible scum-sucking bottom-feeding bitch!
I don't particularly care for cats myself, but I would never hurt one ... especially not torture it to death.

This sorry excuse for a human being does need to have her children taken away, and deserves a much harsher punishment, IMHO.

Poor Fluffy....

10. You probably don't care for them because you don't have any...
Cats are very sweet animals. This woman should have gotten at least 6 years, not 6 weeks!

12. no, I don't have any because I don't care for them....
I've known and still know several people with cats ... I don't mind petting them or playing with them, but I don't want my own.

If I'm going to spend money on a pet, I want something that will love me back, that I can take out and play with, or go for walks with. And I don't want to have a box of cat pee/crap in my house to have to clean up. And I don't believe it is safe for the cats or fair to my neighbors to let them be outside cats. Also, I don't like the claws, the scratching, the spraying ... declawing is not fair to the cat. I would get it neutered if I had one.

I have two dogs, and have had birds in the past. It was bad enough cleaning the bird cage, and scooping dog poop from the back yard. No cat box cleaning for me, thanks.

13. If you think cats are "sweet," I should probably introduce you to Stinky,
the Wonder Cat.

She has been mine since she was a small kitty; has never had her paws off wall to wall carpeting.

Sweet? Meaner than hell....tried to kill my husband.

If anyone laid a hand on her, or tried to kill her, I would have to shoot them.

11. I wish I hadn't clicked on this. What a piece of scum
I am against the DP, but by golly, I'd like to put her in a boiling washer for a few minutes.
