1. I'm going to go with the band on the top...
The dude on the right has ass-kickin' hair.. I think I might go that route.

His above the garage lab and workshop...

But when I was a kid, he had red hair and glasses...

Way cooler than the Hardy Boys....

13. Yeah, thats cool
I just look at PiL, and I mean, they inspired other bands that I love, so that gives them extra bonus points.
But Killing Joke get extra bonus points for being so rocktastic
But but but

gets serious negative points for working with sarah brightman :puke:

on the other hand he did work with mission uk & had his classical collaborations (which busted him out of his own box)

youth gets points in my book for the orb, the verve, james, beth orton & all the remix work he did in the 90's

15. It's a toss-up for me
Although I must admit to owning all KJ's stuff (and some of the hard-to-find vinyl singles from early on, too), but not quite all of PiLs.

If it's based on most recent output, I've have to say Killing Joke. Their 2003 self-titled album was amazing.

16. I guess it depends.
Is this specific to the band lineups pictured? Because faced with a choice between getting fisted by a long-haul trucker with acromegaly and listening to that particular P.I.L. incarnation, I'd have some thinking to do.

33. See, I've been in throes of ecstasy over
Killing Jokes self-titled this weekend. In between martinis, shots and fantasy metal that is.
But for some reason, listening to Killing Joke always gives me the urge to take PiL to bed with me.
I wonder why that is.

37. Which self-titled, the new one (2003)
Their first was also self-titled, too (1980). Both are pretty incredible, IMHO. And interestingly enough, both have a version of "Wardance" on them.

I saw them about ten years ago on the "Pandemonium" tour, and they were nothing short of brilliant. :)

I first got that one on vinyl some time in the mid-80s.

And interestingly enough, I was back at my house, cleaning out stuff and getting ready for the closing, and I found this stub:

Talk about wierd coincidences.

41. If it's the line-ups pictured, Killing Joke is better,
though if it's a Lydon/Levene version of PiL, I'll take them.

PiL post-Flowers of Romance was garbage.

Both bands hit the same wall that the Stranglers, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Gang of Four hit in 1982. That is to say, they all went to shit.

Killing Joke and Gang of Four were two bands that ultimately redeemed themselves, much much later.

PiL never did redeem themselves, though they were the most marvelous thing going from inception through Flowers of Romance. They couldn't hack the loss of Levene (far greater, even, than the loss of Wobble).

1983: Lydon's subsequent incorporation of that nondescript bunch of once contextually great, now name-brand post-punk hacks begging to cash in on something, prolonged some agony for fans during subsequent records and tours. Pointless records and tours. Shit.

I still keep looking for something that follows that early PiL thread. Closest I've found is Miles Davis stuff: Dark Magus and Tribute to Jack Johnson, though PiL was more likely on Miles' thread. I ceased long ago being a musicologist.

Phone interviewed Jaz Coleman once. A darned good conversationalist, that one.
