I hate doing laundry. More than cleaning the bathroom. More than grubbing out the closet. More than defrosting the freezer. There's just something so banal about laundry. *sigh*

Gotta do it though. Put it off as long as I can. Got a gig tomorrow and I have to have something to wear.

Somebody keep me company. :-)

4. Blech
Definitely blech. Doing laundry at my house is blecherous but not bleacherous. Almost everything I own is black...no bleach.

2. What's your gig entail? Are you a musician?
BTW, I friggin' hate doing laundry, since I have to go to a laundromat and endure people trying to convert me to Christianity every time I go there. Ick!

7. Yup, I'm a musician...
I'm a second alto in the Tapestry Singers (Austin's Women's Chorus). We have a gig tomorrow night at some conference and then our big Fall concert on Saturday.

Avoiding people is one of the reasons I'm up doing laundry so late. There's no one else up at my apartment complex so I don't have to fight for a dryer.

8. That would be awful.
I would be tempted to try to convert them to a UFO cult. It could be fun.

I had that happen once
Then I started wearing red contacts. It stopped really quickly, for some reason. :D

3. I get to do at least 12 loads a week!
And oh boy, tomorrow's laundry day. I do it twice a week or about every 4 days. Yes, I hate it. Summer laundry is much better because it's less- shorts, t-shirts, tanks tops, but in the Fall and Winter, bulky sweaters and jeans make it double the Summer stuff.

10. One of the nice things...
about living alone is that I don't have to do laundry that often. But I remember living at home with the parents and my little brother. Back then it seemed like all we ever did was laundry.

To quote my mom, "They call me Speed Queen...cause laundry is my life." :-)

5. Hmm, you need a personal maid, you know
someone who looks after your clothes, shops for you, coordinates your appointments at the beauty salon and at the SPA, or you would have to be a princess wouldn't you. Sorry. It's a nice fantasy though, isn't it?

11. I need me a wife...
one of those 50s sitcoms wives at that who'll vacuum in pearls and have my dinner ready when I get home from work and who'll rub my feet after a long day. ;-)

6. The last time
we cleaned up around here was before my daughter moved out because she didn't want to clean up after the males in her family. I think that was in 1988. We do laundry and dishes and that's about it. I don't mind cleaning the kitchen and bathroom but I can't think of a really good reason to do it.

12. I'm not that fussy, but yesch, that sounds like a pig sty?
Tell me you have cleaned since 1988.

9. Laundromats are great levelers of society
I personally prefer not to go there. ;-)

Seriously, I don't know why laundromats can't be more pleasant places. Televisions, comfortable chairs...maybe a pub serving beer and wine...

Okay, we don't have to go to far, but for the outrageous amounts of money charged for the machines, why does a person have to feel like a third world outcast when one goes there?

On the other hand,if you are doing your laundry in the comfort of your own home, I have no pity for you, except when the damn socks don't match, and they never do.

Keep up the good work, VelmaD! Fold, fold, fold.

P.S. At times like these, I wonder whether GWBush has ever cleaned a toilet or done laundry. Hah!

13. I'm in the middle...
not doing laundry at home but not at one of the big laundromats either. My apartment complex has a little laundry room on the premises. It could be worse. No tv. No comfy chairs. And you kind of have to take your chances with the dryers working. But at least I don't have to drive to do laundry.

15. Actually, having had to use laundromats in many states,
there have been a some like you describe, pleasant and comfortable, and I think there was one that served beer somewhere in Las Vegas. Unfortunately most of them have been wretched affairs with broken machines and I even started an electrical fire in one of them with a bare cord once. Ah, the excitement of those days.

14. See, that's the one chore I actually love.
-and that's why I save it for last. I hate doing the dishes, so I always get them out of the way as soon as possible.

17. Basic personality difference I guess...
I'm bad about putting off stuff I don't want to do. I suppose I'm working on the theory that if I ignore it it'll go away. Never seems to work out that way but I keep hoping. :-)

18. Whites, hot or warm??
I'll do the socks in hot. White-t's in warm.
Notice fleece doesnt look very good after a couple of washes? That pisses me off!

the vast majority of my wardrobe is black. And I wash everything in cold water.
