65. So sorry to take so long in answering you but I had computer problems.
I feel a little better, still miss my little Dell.

She was ill and went quickly, I was holding her when she died.

I have found out about a female cat that will need a home so I will take her and two kittens in a few months. This will be a good way to remember Dell.

Thanks for the hugs, sure need them. I still have a dog and two old cats, by that I mean one cat is 13 and the other is about 10 years old.

My dog is sleeping behind me right now, and the two cats are in their regular spots.

I am glad I was home with Dell when she died, I would have hated for her to be alone. My neighbor was very close to Dell, Dell would visit with her every day, she was a very friendly cat.

Our furry friends do have a way of working their way into our hearts.

Here's to Dell, one fine little cat.

I think one of the coolest thing in the world is that we can all look at the same full moon at the same time.

Or, as a three-old old once said as I was holding him under the full moon, "Cool moon, God."

And since I always see these at 60+, that means too late for me to get in.

sounds like a lot of work. And potentially dangerous. Which is part of the reason I rarely start threads.

It's so embarrassing to reply to 29 different respondents and miss 1  which I have done (more or less, I don't know if it was exactly 29, but quite a few, and missed one.)

so it will be time for me to slip out of this thread.

except I've been posting in it, so I'm *allowed* to stay as long as I want. :P

All I need is something to talk about.

I sort of like Jerry Jeff Walker, but have never owned any of his music.

types of music: :)
things I buy
things I like but don't buy
things I wouldn't even consider buying.
things I've never heard/heard of.

each type is larger than the one preceding it.

edit: ooh - that was nicely timed! :P :bounce:

types of music: :) L. Cohen, Dylan, the Dead, and a little bit of everthing.
things I buy: painting supplies; surprises for Call Me Wesley and the Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger; fountain pens; nice paper.
things I like but don't buy: most anything that would require me to enter a mall or supermarket.
things I wouldn't even consider buying: the list is too long.
things I've never heard/heard of: this reminds me of the bit in "On the Road" where the two characters sit around trying to think of the last thing on their minds. ;)

70. Jackson Browne version
is what I typically hear in my head when I make the mental leap from staying to the song, but the lyric I posted was from the Frankie Valli version.

I think he did the actual "Stay" vocal on the JB version of the song?

I dunno.

33. Ours is a strange climate.
Very Mediterannean in spring, summer and fall, but we do occasionally get snow in the winter, and the top of our koi pond freezes, but it's not that bone-chilling cold like ya get in Iowa and Nebraska, where the snow drifts up to the door and traps you for days on end.

9. Playing on the late night juke box:
Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There’s more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

Out of the blue and into the black
You pay for this, but they give you that
And once you’re gone, you can’t come back
When you’re out of the blue and into the black.

Yes, Neil Young.

Now playing is TAXI, by Harry Chapin.

It took a while, but she looked in the mirror
And she glanced at the license for my name
A smile seemed to come to her slowly
It was a sad smile, just the same

And she said, How are you Harry
I said, How are you Sue
Through the too many miles
And the too little smiles
I still remember you:hi: :hi:

25. Good tunes!
Got any Leonard Cohen? Here's my favorite Leonard Cohen for a windy, full moon morning:

In My Secret Life

I saw you this morning.
You were moving so fast.
Can’t seem to loosen my grip
On the past.
And I miss you so much.
There’s no one in sight.
And we’re still making love
In My Secret Life.

I smile when I’m angry.
I cheat and I lie.
I do what I have to do
To get by.
But I know what is wrong,
And I know what is right.
And I’d die for the truth
In My Secret Life.

Hold on, hold on, my brother.
My sister, hold on tight.
I finally got my orders.
I’ll be marching through the morning,
Marching through the night,
Moving cross the borders
Of My Secret Life.

Looked through the paper.
Makes you want to cry.
Nobody cares if the people
Live or die.
And the dealer wants you thinking
That it’s either black or white.
Thank G-d it’s not that simple
In My Secret Life.

I bite my lip.
I buy what I’m told:
From the latest hit,
To the wisdom of old.
But I’m always alone.
And my heart is like ice.
And it’s crowded and cold
In My Secret Life.

37. No, but now I'm hearing David Allen Coe
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song,
and he told me it was the perfect country and western song.
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the
perfect country and western song because he hadn't said
anything at all about momma, or trains, or trucks,
or prison or gettin' drunk. Well, he sat down and
wrote another verse to this song and he sent it to me and
after reading it I realized that my friend had written the
perfect country and western song. And I felt obliged to include
it on this album. The last verse goes like this here:

Well, I was drunk the day my momma got out of prison,
And I went to pick her up in the rain.

Now I'm hearing 'Will the circle be unbroken'

I was standing by my window,
On one cold and cloudy day
When I saw that hearse come rolling
For to carry my mother away

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, lord, by and by
There’s a better home a-waiting
In the sky, lord, in the sky

I said to that undertaker
Undertaker please drive slow
For this lady you are carrying
Lord, I hate to see her go

26. Hi Heidi and fellow Nighthawks!!
I am still struggling with computer problems, not able to be online from home more than a few minutes at a stretch, so I'm calling it an early night again tonight. Just wanted to give you all some :loveya: first!

Heidi - I've also been meaning to ask - is that painting one of yours? If it is, please tell me about it - it is really great work! That's got to be enigmatic behind the bar, yes? Give it up girl - I'd really love to hear more from the original arteest!

I'm going to try to stick around for another few minutes, but if I don't respond to a post here, just know it's technical difficulty, not rudeness!

:banghead:

28. Call Me Wesley made that graphic
usering DAZ Studios and PhotoShop CS2. It's an adaptation of Hopper's "Nighthawks." I like it, too, but I've gotta give credit where credit is due.

Shall I send your computer some good vibes?

42. It turned cold today,
below freezing with a little snow when I came into work at 3:30, I'm almost afraid to go outside to go home.

But I think the old horse may need his blanket on tonight, so for him I'll brave the elements.

92. Next Wednesday evening
But we'll be seeing them this Saturday, when we drive a couple of Mr. SG's aunties down there for a visit. It won't be too bad, though -- I'll have my own car for escape!

And, they have been informed that I am commandeering the teevee at 3:45 in the afternoon to watch the Civil War game (University of Oregon Ducks -- my team -- vs. the Washington State Beavers). Fortunately, they both love football (and me), so I get my way!

Mrs E SWEARS that a webcam is on our Xmas list this year!;)

I've got Friday off so we can go to a local wrestling show (and woo the commish into doing a weekly show on the station); that's the day your package is going off as well. I feel horrible because I've been working so much that I've fallen behind in sending out all the packages to friends, so that they've turned into de-facto Xmas packages by default:)

Have you been able to kick back any? Last time I saw a post from you, you were looking at a really long day -- 16 hours, I think you said!

Nice to see you. I tried to find the Naughty Girls Band to play a song for you, but they have been very naughty lately, and sometimes I just can't find them. Don't you just love bad girls??

But it's almost done, so that's a relief. It would probably be done by now, had I a) takena nap yesterday so that I could ahve stayed up later last nigh; and b) not gotten so distracted trying to create a photomontage (which I'm not finished making yet, either).

But anyway, hi, everyone! :hi:
