I'm surrounded by psychos! (swear filled rant alert)
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 12:41 PM by jane_pippin
Seriously.

One of my co-workers is deranged and it's making me crazy. He's the handyman of the building and does pretty much everything. He's good at his job and generally a nice guy but I swear to god the guy's fuckin' nuts. Here are some exciting examples:

Can't find your drills and hammers? Why, clearly the answer is to storm into my office, take a seat and start screaming for 20 minutes about how much you hate our boss for not hiring more people to work with you. Also, make sure to repeat the same sentence about 30 times in 5 minutes: "I can't find my damn-ass drill...man...Hey Jane, I don't know where that damn-ass drill is. If I had another guy here I'd know where that damn-ass drill is...shit."

Want to help the homeless in your area? By all means, bring them to work to help you keep track of your "damn-ass drills." Then, when they get tired or don't rake the leaves correctly, please yell at them and berate them in front of the building. Nevermind those people walking in--they're just potential clients who might want to give us money so we can get paid and afford our rents. Make sure you make fun of them, your homeless helpers, for being alcoholics too. It's helpful, and they like it.

Above all, remember that you know everything and the rest of us are idiots. Especially your relative you brought along to help. Please, make sure to tell him he's an idiot by getting in a fight with him in the lobby and chasing him outside to continue yelling at him because again, you know EVERYTHING and everyone else is an idiot. Please reinforce this idea by saying "I told you so" as much as humanly possible. Only your personal problems should matter. Ours are meaningless and we're weak for being affected by them and/or making a decision different from what you would have done.

Don't get me wrong, this guy has a lot of good qualities. For birthdays in the building, he's the one that gets people together and brings cake. He spends a lot of time going out of his way to help people in the building--even coming in on weekends when he doesn't have to. And he does help out a lot of the homeless guys near where he lives by driving them to the doctor, or buying them dinner. He's a nice guy who's gone through a lot of shit in his life, and a lot of his frustrations about the job are justified. But this fucking self-righteous psycho bullshit is not helping his cause as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and don't bother telling me to mention it to our boss. He'd never believe me, if he did believe me he'd just tell me to ignore it since the guy does so much good otherwise. On top of that, the boss only bothers to show up at the office about once every 2 months anyway so he has no idea what it's like, and he rarely answers his phone so for all I know he's not even in the state anymore. (He's gone on vacation and not mentioned it to any of us a time or two.)

How 'bout that kickass job market, eh? Don't I fucking wish. Thank god for my other job with non-insane co-workers.

3. that is totally crazy
because if there was another guy, he would have taken the tanj-a$$ drill somewhere for something and not have put it back where it belongs, and then they would forget where they put it since that was a couple days ago.

But you only talked about one babbling angry man. RU surrounded by an army of one?

5. Pretty much, yeah. He's the guy I have the joy of dealing with the most.
He just wants somebody to boss around. He really could use some help but that probably wouldn't help him in keeping track of his damn-ass drills (or damn ass-drills, as others have called them).
