I say: Eye-Ron.

Not: Eye-urn.

Goddammit.

5. Eye-rn. Yes really. One and 1/2, nearly one syllable.
It's even better as a compound, like "tar eye-rn". See, a tye-er eye-ron can help you with a flat, but tar eye-rn can help you in a brawl.

19. i-yearn. Except when it comes up in choral singing, when it turns into
Eye-rohn.

F'rinstance, Holst's "In the Bleak Midwinter"
"Earth stood hard as eye-rohn, water like a stone."
