Poll question: Favourite season?
I enjoy summer. Everything's so alive. However, it's not quite my favorite season.
I dread fall, because winter is close behind.
I hate winter, all the festivities notwithstanding. Everything else about the natural world seems just dead.
But I love spring, with its new life and all of its promise for the year ahead.

What's your favourite season?

1. We barely have spring and fall here
Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 10:30 PM by LeftyMom
and winter is cold and rainy with a reasonable chance of flooding, but summer is nice and hot, which is how I like it.

People who aren't from here usually suck up the air conditioning and bitch about the heat though. It's tough if you're not used to it.

2. Spring!
I am in complete agreement with your assessment. Fall is my least favorite because all I can think about is winter around the corner. Spring is my favorite for all the typical sappy reasons: tiny bright green leaves, planting flowers, bunnies in the yard... :)

7. See, it's all about baseball
And summer means you can go to a night game with just a light jacket, and maybe never even put it on. :bounce:

8. Fall
easily Minnesota's most perfect weather, clear, dry, no bugs, wonderful light colored leaves. Wonderful.

And the ephemeral nature of the season only seems to add to it--at least for me that is.

9. late spring - early summer in western NC is heavenly...
though I do not like the ticks or mosquitos. In fact, ticks totally freak me out. But the warming of the evenings as spring progresses, and the longer days, are just so wonderful. The weather makes me feel happy and healthy. I also like late summer - early fall. The transition periods are really quite nice and avoid the extremes of heat or cold.

11. Winter is an easy choice
Best holidays, see my relatives, all the important football games, get to bundle up at night, and no baseball. Admittedly, it might be different if winter meant somewhere else. My winters have been in Miami, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. My one winter in Pennsylvania was a slip and slide blast but maybe that would get old every year.

12. I love winter.
I just think that ice and snow are incredibly beautiful, though I live in the south, so I very rarely get any.

I love the colors--subdued, but still rich in their way. Winter doesn't go out of its way to be pretty for anyone, it does what it will, and refuses to conform to anyone's pleasure...I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else, but it does to me :).

There's something about the night sky in winter--it's deeper and more blue than at any other time of the year, and the stars seem more brilliant.

And I think that winter is the most romantic time of year--even though I'm not a very romantic person. I love the idea of going ice-skating, getting cold, and then going inside to drink hot chocolate and apple cider by a fire.

Not many people like winter--but I truly love it.

13. I love the melancholy of autumn
I love the grey skies, the flights of birds, the turning leaves, the smell of wood fires, the sudden chill in the breeze, and the cozy feeling of being inside when it's cold out. I don't like the bright sun or heat of summer. Maybe I should have been born an Englishman or a vampire.

15. I'm a winter person.
I love cold weather. I dread summer because I hate the heat. When it gets up beyond 80 degrees, I am miserable.

19. Most definitely summer!
All those wonderful water sports, and the hot and humid weather. Just love that. Winter's fine as along as we get snow, but right now we're just getting yucky COLD weather.

20. Summer - closely followed by winter.
A good hot English summer cannot be beaten, the only thing that comes close is the experience of walking out of the door wrapped up in coat, scarf &c. to be greeted by the chilly air which seems to dig into one's cheeks - most exhilarating.

21. Fall.
The changing leaves are beautiful, and I love the crisp air and the promise of SNOW in a month or two. Plus, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

I hate summer. I hate being hot and sweaty and... um... yeah.
