Now I've heard everything!!
My hubby had a job interview yesterday. He is currently employed, but unhappy there. So he gets there and the interviewer starts reading his resume and comes to the salary history and says "I don't think we're on the same page here." So my hubby stands up and says "Let me know if things change." That was it!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with people today????? My hubby was out of town for 2 days and drove right to this interview from the airport!! What a fucking waste of time!!! Is it too much to ask to actually read the whole resume BEFORE setting up the interview so people's time isn't wasted like this?? Or getting hopes up for nothing?? I just can't believe it!!:mad:

1. That sucks. In my company, we have a few jobs where the pay is,
shall we say, unexceptional. When scheduling an interview, we always tell people what the job pays, and what the normal working hours will be (we have evenings, weekends, holiday work, etc.). Then, if the pay and/or hours are not acceptable, we don't waste anyone's time with an interview.

3. I totally agree.
My husband now lists his salary history along with everything else. It seems like everyone wants his 22 years experience in the field, but expect him to work at an entry level salary. So he is tired of wasting other peoples time and tired of his own time being wasted.

2. that sucks. waste of time/$.
i went to an interview the other day for a construction position. the first thing i was asked was, "it says here you have a degree in construction management. i've never seen that before. is there such a thing?" i explained that there actually is such a thing and i have a bachelor's degree in it. i was a little surprised that the owner of a 3rd generation construction company had never heard of it, considering he has a masters degree.

after i left i got nervous, because a few years after i graduated the college eliminated the degree. if they try to look it up there will be no record of it in the current curriculum and they might think i fabricated the whole thing.

5. Do people actually check on stuff like that?
I would like to think that if anyone actually checked into it, the college would explain the situation.

8. if they contact the school to verify my degree i'd be okay
i'm sure the school records are kept up-to-date. if they look on a website, or make a casual call to a general number out of curiosity, it might not come up.

4. That blows.
:wtf:

People are so fucking clueless and rude. Your husband should send them an invoice for wasting his time.

7. Sounds like a bargaining technique, maybe?
Trying to talk him down, knowing he was interested enough to have flown to the interview?
