Bush Daughter is Not Engaged

WASHINGTON (AP) -- First daughter Barbara Bush was wearing a ring on the third finger of her left hand Wednesday, but the White House said she is not engaged.

Susan Whitson, spokeswoman for the first lady, said the jewelry that the 24-year-old had on during a visit to Children's National Medical Center with her mother was not an engagement or wedding ring.

Yes, I still have a chance then... :-)

1. I wonder why
I don't think too many men would Shrub as they're father-in-law. Besides that, the twins look too much like they're father.

3. the thumb's not a finger?
I guess I'm just used to calling that finger the ring finger, as opposed to the third finger. I know them by their pet names: thumb, pointer, bird, ring, and pinky.

4. A Spokesperson for the BFEE says that there is no engagement.
So my next thought is, when is the wedding?

6. Then it must be a purity ring!
Abstinence-only accessorizing: purity rings for wholesome teens

Under the Bush administration, organizations that promote abstinence and encourage teens to sign virginity pledges or wear purity rings have received federal grants. The Silver Ring Thing, a subsidiary of a Pennsylvania evangelical church, has received more than $1 million from the government to promote abstinence and to sell its rings in the United States and abroad.

8. Maybe her girlfriend gave it to her

Wouldn't that be embarrassing for the first family.

Either that or there could be a wedding very soon and a child soon after.

10. OMG, Wouldn't that be great if it was a promise ring from her girlfriend?
I'd be so happy for her.

9. Don't you wear an engagement finger on the right hand?
And then switch it to the left after the wedding... correct?

Of course, I somehow managed to get married without a diamond ring, so perhaps I know not whereof I speak.

14. An engagement ring is worn on the left hand, third finger
until the wedding day. Before the ceremony it is switched to the right hand. After the ceremony, the engagement ring is switched back to the left hand in front of the wedding band. That way, you can remove the engagement ring without having to remove the wedding band.

13. I'm watching the REAL White House wedding on Sunday night
when Elle Bartlett gets married.

One of the Bush twins getting married would be more vomitatious than having to watch Paris Hilton get married.
