3. I remember.

I heard about his death the morning after as I was listening to the radio news while getting ready for school. I was a senior and, after a flurry of fast, tearful phone calls, a few of us wore black armbands to school that morning in mourning.

When I discovered the Beatles in my parents' vinyl collection at about 12, Mr. Lennon was my first brush with the counter-culture. It stuck, and I thank him still. Listening to his music helped me understand my Sixties-generation parents, and to a great extent shaped who I am today. :thumbsup:
