One of our elected officials said this about gay marriage...
"In the end, it's very difficult to argue against letting the people of Wisconsin decide what they are comfortable with when it comes to marriage."

I agree. In fact, I simply insist that we also add mixed race marriage, elder marriage, marriage by handicapped people and even regular marriage. Let's let the people of the state define EXACTLY which marriage is OK for Wisconsin.

1. Hm...
Well, this is the reply I sent to him:

Dear Sir,

I read your quote in this mornings Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel "In the end, it's very difficult to argue against letting the people of Wisconsin decide what they are comfortable with when it comes to marriage."

To that point I insist that you also add mixed race marriages, marriage by the elderly, marriage by the infirm, and any other form of marriage. If you want the voters to decide then they should be allowed to decide all or nothing, not something that simply does not please you.

Despite what you say, sir, this is bigotry pure and simple. Done simply for political purposes. You know as well as I do that if this amendment fails you will simply try again until you have your way.

For your sake, sir, I hope you never have to have a family member come to you and say how much heartache you've caused them by attempting to pass this vile legislation.

3. These people are so tiresome
Had it been left up to a vote of the people, we'd still have slavery in this country. Sometimes you have to look at what's RIGHT, and not just what people are comfortable with or what they want.

4. They are trying to re-define Wisconsin
to be a red state - for repukes when in fact the history of Wisconsin used to be one of the most progressive states!

I hate what these people are doing to this state!

I would tell them to let the people decide and stop wasting their time and OUR money debating these foolish ideas! GET TO REAL WORK!

6. I just dont get it why people cant marry who they WANT to marry.
So what if they're in a same sexed relationship. They love each other and thats all that should matter. I'm not gay, but damnit, if someone is, and they want to get married, SO WHAT!!!!!!! LET THEM! What harm could possibly come out of it? Divorce? Shit that happens all the time already.

If one of my children one day tell me that they're gay, what choice or even business is it of mine? As long as s/hes happy thats all that matters to me.

Good for your reply! It is all political, no matter which way you look at it.

7. The founding fathers made the Constitution so they'd have to compromise
some of their values for the greater good. THAT is why we HAVE a Constitution.

Your elected official is a pompous self-serving jackass.

How about race equality? Or if they should let Democrats live in Wisconsin?

They must go by the Constitution. That's why our founding fathers made it; knowing even they would have to put some of their biases aside.
