Scary Experience: I almost lost DU overnight =8-{

Having eaten too much steak teriyaki last night, I awoke rather early today with stomach complaints. Taking an antacid, I decided to check in to DU while I gave my stomach a chance to settle down.

User ID: Robert Cooper, Password: wouldn'tyouliketoknow;-), Click "Login"

Computer: "User ID does not exist"

Me: "Wha?" Retype ID and password

Computer: "User ID does not exist"

Me: "AAAaaah"

Check my threads, yep, they're still there. Check my replies, yep they're still there. Check my star: yep that's still there too.

Retype my ID and password.

Computer: "User ID does not exist"

Me: "bu...bu...bu... I just bought my star!"

Thoughts run through my head: "what did I do? what did I say? am I banned?" check email, nothing.

I shut down my browser (must be a problem there) and then I notice my firewall and anti-virus software -also- shuts down (this can't be a good thing). Quickly shut down the computer. Breathe...breathe...what happened? was I hacked. Are my cookies screwed? This isn't helping my stomach...

Wait a minute...something isn't right. Whenever I login, my firewall warns me about using my name. It didn't do that when I tried to login...something's not right there.

Boot the machine...check...yep, firewall and anti-virus running okay. Connect to the net, start up my browser, connect to DU Login screen.

Type in User ID and password. Firewall asks me if it's okay (whew). Yes, continue.

30 seconds later, I'm back on DU!!

phew...

Little did I realize how -much- I like this place.

So please, mods, if I do something bad, please tell me so I can do good. Don't take away my DU. I'm a smart boy. I can learn. Honest.
