I just had a bowl of my pot-au-feu, made rabrrrrrr-style

Which means, very much not in the traditional way.

I used a big chuck steak, a cut from the shin, and a beef marrow bone, as well as about 8 chicken wings. Simmered for about 8 hours last night, then today took the meat apart, clarified the broth, then put it back together and added large pieces of carrots, rutabaga, parsnips, and turnips, and four whole smallish onions. Simmered that for another 2 hours, then ate it.

Yum!!

Oh, I used beef broth as the base liquid, so it comes out a little stronger. I like that better than just starting with plain water.

2. Wow - that was a blast from the past!

And also curiously interesting, because I just put another pot of it on the stove (whiuch I started yesterday, and then just about 30 minutes ago clarified and added the veggies and ate a small bowl of the meat and broth mix). Today's tastes much better than last week's, which came out rather bland.
