My best friend from high school, the "attorney," is in federal prison.
I posted about her a couple of years ago when I learned, thanks to Google, that instead of the lies she'd told me about being in law school and an attorney, she had been convicted of mail fraud. She violated her supervised release and is now in the pokey for 3 years.

I'm sorry for her, but also angry. At least I went to law school and got a JD after being inspired by her example, although it turned out to be a lie.

Here's a link to the opinion affirming her sentence if anyone is interested.

1. I remember you talking about her before.
Very odd story, to put it mildly.

A cousin of mine is part of case law history. His case has been cited in decisions by judges and can be found on findlaw :scared:

5. I remember you talking about her as well.
I am reminded of a couple who attended law school together. Apparently they had been defrauding banks to pay for law school, by opening accounts at one bank, writing a check on it that would later bounce.

They were caught just before graduation and were not allowed to walk. The husband spent time in prison. The wife got probation.

They were so nice and fun to be around. You never know.
