Project Runway confession
I don't watch much tv, even though I have a tv set next to my computer. I watched most of the last Project Runway and really enjoyed it, much to my embarassment.

I hate reality shows in general.

But I still like to watch a bit of tv. And I love this show.

I don't give a crap, really, about fashion -- but somehow I love this show.

I feel so ashamed.

Help me feel better; or worse?

It may be a need to absorb myself in something so utterly trivial and numbing in the face of the inconceivable horrors of watching our country rapidly turning into a neo-fascist, neo-imperialist tyranny that I find pleasure in the brief escape from the soul-grinding reality of this current regime that I'm only finding brief solace in this drivel.

Am I being too pompous in my rationalization about enjoying this junk?

btw, I love Wendy Pepper!

3. I'm a tomboy natural resources professional who watches,
on average, well under two hours of TV a week (Desperate Housewives is my weakness), and I LOVE that show!!!!!

Whenever I'm in a hotel I'm all over it!!!

It's like a train wreck... you can't NOT look!

5. I love Project Runway!
I don't know why one would need to rationalize enjoying it.

(although you should be ashamed of loving Wendy Pepper!)

6. I thank you all for such nice things you've said....
But, I'm gonna stand strong and say a little more strongly: I Love Wendy Pepper!

She was _so_ real compared to Kara Saun!

uuuugggghhhhh! I actually know this stuff!!!!
I am feeling _so_ gay right now. I'm 40 and gay and can't even wrap a christmas package very well, but damnit, I almost feel like getting into it to defend Wendy!

"They" have got me. Bastards!!! "They" found something trivial I could care about.

I need to stop reading stuff about "disinfo"/CIA/mind-control.

Okay, time to have a beer! Where's that beer smiley?

7. Have you started watching Season 2 yet?
Sounds like you are still watching Season 1. So far, Season 2 is just as good, if not better than Season 1... Love Project Runway!!

8. Just started on season 2
It was re-running tonight, that's why I started the thread.

It's pretty good.

Santino is too cocky, though I think he's very good.

9. Yep, I agree about Santino...
he's wayyy too big for his britches (or pumps if you watched the most recent episode!) Personally, I like Nick- he's very talented too, and I believe, Santino's best competition. He really designs some great stuff. I have to also put in a good word for Chloe, as she is our hometown girl, also from Houston! (and she has had some great designs too!)

20. santino seems to be the 'wendy' for this season
the one everyone loves to hate. they have to keep the show interesting, so i'm sure he'll be around for most of the season. his designs are all much of a sameness so far - he doesn't seem to make anything that is not "poofy" or full around the hips - great for models, perhaps, but not something with great appeal to the average amply hipped american woman ;-)

i thought nick deserved to win last night - his dress was sexy and classy. i like the other daniel too (the only daniel now).

i'm glad to see that there are other DUers watching this silly show!

10. another Project Runway lover here...
I watch it for the drama and the cat fights. :)

I personaly am rooting for Nick on season 2. Santino is too cocky and his outfits are too similar.

14. I am rooting for Nick too .
I have been rooting for him ever since the first episode . But last year Austin Scarlett was my favorite and then look what happened . Who cares what Michael Kors and Nina Garcia think anyway . Auf wiedersehen an Ihnen - Later to them .

Anyone who could make a dress out of cornhusks look that fierce is a winner in my book :D

12. I'm unapologetic too, I love Wendy
I liked a lot of the others on season 1 and felt that the winner was rightful. Wendy just wasn't quite in the winner's league. But she was awesome, mostly as a person! I know nothing of fashion.

16. I wish they would put Marla out of her misery
I think she's a great dressmaker and a decent person, but her education and skills are just too far under the other (younger!) designers.

And, Santino is an ass, and I think his designs are derivative and not-that-great!

...someone on their message board suggested that she was being kept in, so that the judges would have someone to torture....

18. I'm half thinking she tried to get herself eliminated this week
She really seems like a decent person... and looks great for 51. She seems to have a good business, too... Wednesday was cringe-worthy.

19. OMG! YOU WATCH PROJECT RUNWAY!!!
and so do all the other people in this thread! who'd a thunk?

i'm so glad to hear that i am not the only one :-)

like you, i rarely watch teevee, and despise so-called reality shows. i do, however, enjoy the hell outta project runway - i watched the first show of the first season rather skeptically, but for some inexplicable reason, i got "hooked."

no need to rationalize - ... i don't think? around our house, no one ever just says "out" anymore - it's "you awh eithah een owh you awh ouht" (ala heidi klum - gawd she's irritating!) for instance, no one puts the cat out, she is eithah een owh she is ouht. ;-)

you are completely off base about nasty old wendy pepper, tho ;-) not only was she a totally arrogant snot, completely suited to middleberg VA, she totally lacked talent and creativity. imo. i think that jay completely deserved to win, and i was glad to see that after all the bs and wrong decisions made by the judges - austin, who i absolutely adored, really desrved to be eliminated for his "wedding" dress - that at the end, they did choose the most promising designer.

this season is getting fun!

21. My wife, daughter and I are all watching it.
I really liked Daniel Franco. I think his work is elegant and sophisticated. His lingerie was the best in my opinion. I would like to see my wife in what he designed.
I'm hoping this will inspire my daughter to do more sewing.

23. I confess... I like it too
I'm not sure what it is about the show that I like so much. I abhor that they're designing clothes for such unrealistic women, but I abhor that about fashion in general.

I do like to guess at who will win each challenge.

I'm beginning to love to hate Santino. He's a great designer, but man--what an ego! He can never give anyone else credit for a job well done.
