10. Freepers
I absolutely can't stand them. They've spent their subhuman lives griping about how they don't get their way, and they act like literal animals. For example, I once saw a couple of freepers in their 50's in a fast food place-they didn't get immediately waited on because the guy behind the counter was busy, so they started throwing wadded up trash and wrapping papers behind the counter. Typical of them-"I'm not getting my way, so I'm going to throw a tantrum."

Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 07:01 PM by EOO
All of them - all the corporate criminals, the insane religious fanatics, the war-mongering assholes in the White House, the talking head hate-mongerers on AM radio and Fox News (this means YOU, Limbaugh and Hannity!).... They all just piss me off.

Oh, and I hate the people that listen to the bile and garbage spewed by Fox News and AM radio and then take that shit seriously. :grr:

18. I try not to actively hate anybody
Though there are a lot of people whose actions I hate - Bushco, Rush, O'Lielly, etc.

The one person I can truly, honestly say I hate with a passion, who I would enjoy seeing dead, whose grave I look forward to spitting on is my ex-husband. And he deserves it.

27. Hedges, get a dictionary.
Detest is not a noun. But, that's okay. Simple error.

Detest actually means to "dislike intensely" or to "abhor"

Hey, if you want to pick a fight with me, then have at it. I don't know why, but I'll hope you'll enlighten us to that over the course of time...

32. Okay, verb. I have the flu, gimme a break.
No desire to pick a fight, just trying to point out that "detest" and "hate" are synonymous -- if anything, I've always found "detest" to be a stronger word. Abhor. Loathe.

Maybe you're working from a different lexicon than I, but I'll say I "hate" McDonalds. Whereas I "detest" Nazis. To hate is more of a broad brush as I see it, whereas to detest is specific, sometimes violent animosity towad someone or something.

Or, I'm just being a shit, and wanted to pick nits about your post. ;)

28. Overuse of cell phones.
Don't get me wrong. I understand that they are useful when you're stuck in traffic, injured, snowed in, being pursued an ax-wielding maniac, and so forth. But do have to listen to those crappy, intrusive rings in every church, movie theater, bus, subway, lecture hall, museum, office, etc., every freaking minute of every freaking day?! And thanks a LOT to the losers who make sure everyone on the bus or subway can hear every freaking minute and both sides of their boring, tedious, crappy conversations.

I hate what is being done in the Republican Party.

I hate what is being done to this country, politically and culturally.

I hate the fact that cable TV is mostly reruns and third-rate programming and not the artistic banquet "they" promised.

I hate that there's no nationwide system of affordable health insurance in the U.S, even after all these years, and that people accept this as normal or, worse yet, desirable. :grr:

I hate that people use the results of elections in our winner-take-all political system as proof that the American people think in one monolithic way, and of course that way matches very nicely what George W. Bush and his ilk think. Anyone with half a brain knows this is a divided country.

I hate the fairy tale notion that ignoring the moderates and splitting the progessives will somehow win elections and get us a progressive president, Congress, etc. Yeah, that's a sure-fire recipe for success. :sarcasm:

And I hate a lot more than that, but my doctor says I've got to cut back.

In the sense that I hate anything, because, well, I don't hate anything. 2004 broke my "hate" response. Now, strong dislike is about all I'm capable of. And disgust. Sometimes pity.
