Laugh & poke fun if you must... but GH has me in tears
GH = General Hospital

And I'll be posting SPOILERS for those who have not seen Friday's episode. Might want to shut this post now...

.

.,

.

.

There is an epidemic -- man-made nasty virus. Only one person has survived and they are skimming his blood as often as possible to make a serum. Definitely not enough to treat everyone who needs it.

So, today, a long-time cast member died. The thing that got to me was him seeing his daughter who was killed ages ago as he was close to death. I can remember my mother watching when his daughter died and her own tears... I remember my tears when my son died... let's just say it all mixed into together and now I'm an emotional mess.

GH has been really, really good lately. Mom would be proud.

1. Don't feel bad, I got teary-eyed on "Antwone Fisher" when he reunited with
his family.

Maybe, it's age or being a parent, but for the longest time I never cried on movies or TV shows or ANYTHING but lately I've been lumping up more.

Maybe this is further proof that I'm hitting "the change" Poor Mr. CornField. ;)

3. No, not him... at least not yet
They've been playing Sonny up as especially kind-hearted lately. Too much love... too much happiness... too much kindness or philosophical insight typically means the character is soon to be deceased. LOL! Sonny is in the hospital and he's sick, but still kicking.

The character was Tony Jones. (He and Bobbi Spencer had a daughter, BJ, many years ago who died after being hit by a car.) I kinda had a feeling this was coming. Their son, Lucas, admitted to Tony that he was gay this week. Tony had one of those philosophical insight moments. Uh-ho.

6. I knew it was going to be him as soon as his son told him...
and he was completely accepting! But it was so sad!

Do you think Nikolas or Sonny will end up getting the serum? I hope Sonny gets it.

12. Awe, Tony's a great character
I watched that whole thing with Bobbi and when BJ died I was in tears for a week. I haven't watched the soap in a long time.

17. Brad Maule Is a Great Actor
I hope this will give him the chance to go onto much better things. GH was a cozy gig for him. Maybe too cozy.

7. it has been about 5 years since i watched GH,,,,
but it made me sad to read that Tony died today.
(almost like hearing that an old friend you haven't seen in years has died) :(
I remember when BJ died.

if you don't mind answering some questions in brief...

was Tony married? bobbie?
Who's Sonny with these days?
is Brenda around? Carly? (i think i heard she left and the baby she had with sonny died.)
Nikolas? Jason? Robin? are any of them around?

Who is to blame for the virus? This isn't a Cassadine thing, is it?
any other people from years ago sick?

are Luke Laura Lucky or Lulu around these days?
Frisco? Felicia? (i think not) but maybe Maxie or her little sister,,, oh yeah Georgie?

you say it's good lately?... maybe i'll try to check into the folks in Port Charles one of these days, just for old times sake. :)

8. Where to start? LOL!
I go through spurts with GH (and the other ABC soaps). Since I grew up watching them with my mom, I feel almost obligated to check in from time to time.

I don't think Tony and Bobbi were still married, although they weren't enemies. They both professed their love to one another before he died with Tony talking about their wedding.

Sonny isn't really with anyone at the moment. He married Carly and adopted Michael (Carly's son with AJ Quartermaine) and then had their own son, Morgan. They share custody of the kids. (Sonny also has a daughter with Alexis, who is now married to Sonny's brother, Ric)
Sonny and Emily Quartermaine are sort-of, kind-of having a 'thing.' She came to live in his guest house (after divorcing Nikolas) to help him with the boys while Carly was in a mental institution (yes, again).

Robin Scorpio recently returned to GH -- she came back with what was hoped to be miracle cure for Jason's brain damage. Also, just this week, Robert Scorpio rose from the dead (never dead, sent off on secret government missions).

Brenda is not around, but there are rumors of her return.

As far as I can tell the virus will not be drawn back to the Cassadines, but you never know. Courtney (Sonny's long-lost sister) is pregnant with a child which could either belong to Jasper Jax or Nikolas. I believe she was taken captive by Helena -- Jax and Nikolas still don't know where she is.

Luke, Lucky (married to Elisabeth) and Lulu are all in the storyline these days. Luke was the one who brought this virus back to Port Charles and Lulu nearly died from it. Lucky is also infected, but he has been kidnapped by the evil folks who developed the virus (Carly and Jason are off trying to save him). Luke is married to Tracy Quartermaine. Tracy's son, Dillon, is in love with Georgie. Maxie is in love with Jesse, a cop who works with her step-dad, Max (now the Chief of Police).

Have I lost you yet? LOL! Characters who are currently sick: Sonny, Nikolas, Sam (Jason's woman), Sam's brother Danny, Alexis, Ric, Lucky, Dillon and Mike (Sonny's father).

Luke recovered from the disease on his own and they are skimming his blood for the antibodies to give to others. So far both Skye and Lulu have been saved with the serum. At the end of Friday's episode, Emily was being forced to choose between Sonny and Nikolas as to who should get the serum.

I think it's been so good lately because 1) they've brought many of the old timers back into the cast and 2) the hospital has returned as the center of activity (in lieu of Windemere or Sonny's penthouse)

20. thanks, i followed MOST of that....
i really thought i heard that Michael (the kid) died but you say Sonny and Carly share custody of him and their own son. And Sonny has a daughter with Alexis but she's with Ric, Sonny's brother, and I never knew Sonny had a brother. Back when I stopped watching the show Courtney had just come on board as Sonny's sister. I didn't like the new characters back then. The writers seemed to be struggling, the story lines were weak & confused. things were floundering and i lost interest.

Emily Quartermaine wasn't around anymore (and i didn't know she was ever married to Nikolas) and I really liked her. Actually I liked the actress, Amber Tamblyn. Maybe she's played by another actress, because isn't Amber's career is doing pretty well. ???

The most shocking things you mentioned are that
1) Robert Scorpio is alive. Of course they always kept that a possility. :)
2) And Luke is married to Tracy Quartermaine ? :wow: I wonder what strange turn of events brought that about?

Funny to see Jax and Skye's names still around. But back when i last watched they were together, i think. Also glad to see Elizabeth & Lucky are together, even tho Lucky is sick and kidnapped. :( the little kiddies are all in the stories now... Maxie, Georgie, Dillon, Lucas, Lulu...

it sounds like it's on an upswing again which i'm glad to hear. I'll definitely try to tune into a couple of shows soon, you've got me interested in seeing which old characters are still played by the same actors i remember, and which have been replaced.

Tony was a good guy... I'm sorry he's gone. Monday will probably be another sad day in Port Charles.

10. If you've lost a son, you are automatically excused for any outbreaks
of emotionalism. Losing a kid is the worst thing that can happen to anyone, and I wish you hadn't.

It's OK, really. You can cry, and you don't need to apologize.

11. Luke and Laura
I was in a body cast following a motorcycle accident three days after school let out around my 13th birthday. I became addicted to GH, my mom bought me Elton John records, it wasn't so bad a summer after all.

19. It's been gut-wrenching. Not only did he die...
but it was in a hit-and-run accident with Bo's SUV - driven by Bo and Billie's daughter, Chelsea. It's a long story if you haven't been watching, but suffice to say that Hope blames Bo for their son's death.

Kristian Alfonso has been amazing in her scenes. I can't help but cry.

18. I'll Watch the Episode Tomorrow
bless TiVo.

I did see a small part of tonight's SoapNet re-run, when he was telling Bobbie to shut up. That was great.

I stopped watching GH shortly after Sonny blew a whole through Carly's head and only returned when Robert Scorpio did. I'm loving it right now.
