What's with evangelical bumper stickers on crappy cars?

What's with evangelical bumper stickers on crappy cars?
At the parking lot of the mall today, I saw at least 3 rusting, 20-yr old cars sporting evangelical bumper stickers. For example, "In case of Rapture, this car will be unmanned". This is a pattern I have seen over and over again. I rarely see nice new cars with these bumper stickers on them.

Is this an example of people voting against their best interests? Because they're evangelicals, they vote Republican even though it keeps them in the poorhouse?

My mom drives a '93 Subaru Legacy because it still runs and she doesn't have far to go, with one of those stickers. But she's by no means a fundy... she will share her faith, but she really cares about people, practices what she preaches in terms of taking care of people, and is definitely NOT a Bush voter! :)

2. I think many poor people are waiting for the Rapture
They really buy into that there's-got-to-be-something-better-than-this-crappy-life thinking, and, frankly, in many cases, who can blame them?
