This new Vault beverage commercial glorifies, among other things,
A baseball hat-wearing gung-ho Republican farmer type blowing up crows & hippies. Has anyone else seen it & understood it?

1. I am a hardcore leftist
And I hate guns and explosives... but I see nothing wrong with blowing up hippies. They are even more annoying than crows.

8. damn straight. Hippies annoy the crap outta me
Instead of dealing with reality, they seek to escape it by doing drugs. Screw that.

Grab reality by the balls and show it who's boss.

13. it starts off with a guy making a simple scarecrow
but the drink somehow imbues him with inspiration, and soon he has a robot that walks and waves it arms, the next version has a flame thrower, the next has a laser gun... Each successive version does more than scare away the "garden nuisances".

It's funny because it's overkill.

6. Republican type?
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 10:42 PM by RoyGBiv
Not getting the association. Farmers are all Republicans, or is it the baseball cap or the fact he's a rural person?

Anyway ...

I think it sort of speaks for itself, but it won't be funny to you if it needs to be explained, which is to say it doesn't really need explanation. It's slapstick humor about the apparent male tendency to take things just a step too far. Think Tim Taylor of _Home Improvement_. He built a scarecrow with MORE POWER.

9. Thank you so much for the link, RoyGBiv, and upon review, yes I see
the (dim) satire, but I guess it is the march music in the background
that ruins it because there are just that many testosteronic young bucks out there who would go YEEEAAH! Blow 'Em UP!!!

Don't get me wrong--I totally love the Real American Hero Bud Light ads.

7. Just for the record, I LOVE Vault.
It's energizing, but it's crisp and refreshing at the same time. It doesn't give you sticky mouth like MDX, and it doesn't leave a bad aftertaste like Red Bull.
