Read this if you want my petulance
Early this year, the first week I got back from New Year's holidays, my then-boss (Jill for those who know my story) tells me that she'd resigned and her final day was 20 Jan (the end of that week).

So I covered the manager's job as well as my own and partly the Receptionist and partly the Accounts Assistant for the next week and a half until Amy and Mary got back from their holidays. After that I covered the manager's job and mine until further notice. I was subtly discouraged from applying for the job. Then on 20 Feb I get notice from Rachel that the new boss Sally (name changed to protect people) was starting Monday the next week.

I worked at least 60hrs overtime during those 5 weeks. I multi-tasked like I've never multi-tasked before. I dreamt about work, and the work that needed to be done. I worried about work in my weekend and holidays and woke up anticipating the first things I needed to do at the office. I lost my appetite for eating and cooking and home-maintenance.

Then the Sally started, and I thought all is going well.

This morning, as I was walking along my own business I bumped into a colleague.
"Sally has resigned?"
24B: "What?"
"Sally has resigned."
24B: "...what?"
"Oh you didn't read the email Rachel sent?"

Cue memories of stress and verge of nervous breakdown.

I get back to my desk, and there it was - the Email.
And then I see I got another email from Rachel informing 24B that I needed to go on this financials 1.5hr refresher training course - thing is that this same email is also sent to other School Managers in the Faculty, and I am definitely not paid manager's wages, not even when I was on overtime.
My overtime distinctly not worth it. The pay wouldn't get me a return trip to Thailand.

I am not happy. I have not been asked to reprise my role as Acting Office Manager. I am annoyed with a lot of miffed that They presumed I would be a sucker this time around.

This was before lunch. After lunch I realised that Sally is working until the end of the month, and I'm going on holiday for most of May. So it's going to be mostly 'Not My Business'. :-)

I may or may not go on that training course. I still think Rachel's second email does send a strange message when it wasn't copied or sent to Sally the incumbent manager for her to suggest another staff member to be trained. I am a lot miffed that Rachel sent the email to me to make a decision on - I have not been paid a manager's wage to read these kind of emails.

Of course I am capable of reading the emails and making the best decision. But Sally is being paid for that position. Not me.
For the record, Rachel would be interested in hiring me to work in her new business. And I'd be interested in taking it.
