Miz t. and I made the local TV news.
We went to our city council meeting last night.
It's a long, complicated, story, but our police department is having some serious problems.
Corruption and the good ol' boys network thing.
We heard that things might start coming to a head last night and boy did they.
Our mayor seems to be in it up to his elbows.

Could be the beginning of the end for our local repug dynasty.
Stay tuned.

Oh, we were just in the crowd shot of the SRO audience.

6. The quick and dirty:
City hired a new police chief 6 months ago.
For hiring: 4 council members.
Against hiring: mayor and 1 council member.

Mayor wanted to promote one of the good ol' boys from within the department.
4 council members, aware of the problems (the citizens were not, until just recently), and said "Nope, new broom".

The new guy quit last week.
"Unable to enjoy the trust of this mayor's office or work effectively with him."
I had met with him and I was very impressed. A very experienced, bright, energetic man with a solid background in law enforcement.

I think the mayor's coming down.
This would end a 25+ year good ol' boys control of this little city. The retiring mayor crowned the current mayor as his successor about 8 years ago. I know the mayor and used to like him. In light of recent developments I'm now working for his impeachment/recall.

sounds like folks 'not knowing' has been a key to keeping this network in play.
