1. Winston
Much like American Spirit, they're additive free. They're healthy cigarettes! :bounce:

3. I miss rolling my own with Drum tobacco
I don't even think they make Drum anymore, though ... I think they call it something else.

I was never really more than a social smoker, though, and I haven't had a cig in months ...

15. is it the american spirit tobacco or
american spirit "natural," which (several years ago, at least) included bits of bark, branches, etc. ... I've smoked both in my time, though I haven't seen the "natural" in years, either.

Where I'm at, Drum got renamed a couple of years ago ... can't remember what they changed the name to, but the packaging, font, etc. was identical--the only thing that had changed was the name. (Don't know why I can't remember the new name ...)

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that Drum is still around somewhere, at least :)

18. It's American Spirit Natural tobacco.
We buy it in 100g cans. There aren't that many "twigs" in it, really. We roll our own a nifty little machine that accepts blank cigarette tubes with filters. Because of the effort involved in rolling a cigarette, we smoke less. :)

22. oh, I miss that
:smoke:

Back several years ago, when I used to sometimes buy American Spirit in the pouch (never bought it in the tins) it had enough "nature" to it that hand-rolling a cigarette usually resulted in a paper that was torn all to hell. That was before I had a rolling machine (though the one I had was not as sophisticated as what you've shown ;))

I'd sure go for an American Spirit smoke right about now :)

26. I truly hate that I'm a smoker.
I really do. :( But there's a certain zen to rolling one's own cigarettes, I guess. (Or maybe it's like a junkie preparing a fix.)

You can buy a rolling machine like ours online. The cool thing is that the machine injects the tobacco right into a filtered cigarette tube (100s length).

Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 12:53 AM by fishwax
but not so dry as "bugle" ... I used to roll my own with both. But I preferred Drum when I could get it. (Or, even better, "Jester" tobacco, which I could only find at the pipe store at the mall ...)

I miss the tactile sensation of rolling my own cigarettes. Always a great conversation starter, too :)

14. Parlaiment Menthol Lights.
That way no one ever really wants to bum one.

I also really like American Spirit menthols, but they are too pricey for more than an occasional treat.

17. Can someone recommend a roll-your-own tobacco
that's available online (if that's legal) and point me toward a site where I can get a rolling machine that works?

I prefer a rather mild menthol (read: not Kools) of the lowest tar and nicotine available. And natural, if that's not a given with loose tobacco.

Thanks. :hi:

Once in awhile, American Spirit Lights. Usually Camel Lights or Marlboro 27s because I can almost always get them "buy one-get one free."

31. Pall Mall Filters.
For the record, I smoked them unfiltered for the first couple of years, then they came out with the filtered ones. I prefer the filtered ones. I don't smoke lights. I smoke full flavor. I only smoke 100's when they are out of the regular size.

33. we roll our own
zig-zag brand tobacco..

can of tobacco $9.00
box of tubes w/filters: $1.50

works out to $10.50/carton (plus tax)

we use this machine to roll them ($29.00)-- once you get the hang of it a pack of cigs takes about 15 minutes to roll
