Young Frankenstein Musical Due
Mel Brooks, who made a monster hit musical out of his 1968 movie The Producers, is adapting his classic 1974 film Young Frankenstein for the musical stage as well, the Reuters news service reported.

With no deadline set, Brooks told the news service that he is in the middle of writing the score, including a song for scary Frau Blucher, played in the original movie by Cloris Leachman.

When the musical is completed, Brooks says he will make a formal announcement to raise money.

Brooks offered Reuters a preview of Frau Blucher's song: "He vus my boyfriend/He vould come home in a snit/He vould have a terrible fit/I am the first thing he vould hit/But I didn't give a s--t/He vus my boyfriend."

1. I'd see that
if I was ever in New York. I finally got to see hte original producers recently and I loved it. Brooks is a comedy genius as far as I am concerned.

2. Yeah, as long as Brooks is on board,
I'd be willing to go see it.

4. My dad brought me up on Mel Brooks.
And Monty Python, for that matter. :D

I've been watching Brooks films for I don't know how long. He does great comedy, though, very accessible to everyone, from little kids to adults and everyone in between.

5. I wish my dad had done that
but he did take me to see Dumb and Dumber too. Yeah I've had my five year old brother watch Blazing Saddles with me and he loved it though he didn't get the jokes, he watched Family Guy with me tonight and he got a kick out of Stewie Cruise. If I have kids its going to be Brooks movies, a few Farrelly Brothers movies, and the Frat Pack movies that I will bring them up on.

6. Oh, my.
IIRC, Gene Wilder wrote the screenplay. The thought of Young Frankenstein without him just makes me sad.

7. I'm sorry
but that musical would be nothing without the cast. I would be willing to see it, but c'mon.

No Gene Wilder.
No Marty Feldman.
No Cloris Leachman.
No Terri Garr.
No Madeline Kahn.
No Peter Boyle.

To me, each one of those people lent something to the movie that would be impossible to do without them.
