Been revising the list of my 100 favorite soul records of the 1960s...

...and thought I'd post the latest incarnation.

Incidentally, the dates listed by each entry refer to when a single debuted on the Billboard R&B/Soul chart. In the event that a single did not make the R&B chart, the date refers either to its debut on the Billboard "Hot 100" pop chart, or to its month and year of release.

3. I have your station bookmarked on Live 365
I listen to that, a station that plays all Stax/Volt stuff, and a couple of blues stations all day at work now.
Great work you are doing. I love soul music. I am a diehard Otis Redding fan.

4. A very fine, impressive list....but....
....
I really think you ought to have (unless I missed them)these two:

"Mustang Sally," by Wilson Pickett; and
"Dancin' in the Street," by Martha and the Vandellas.

I see you have both acts well-represented and give you your props for that. But i think these are the best songs each had and...they should be on the list.

Also, perhaps just because of the times, Edwin Starr's "War" should supplant his "25 Miles."

thanks.

6. "Mustang Sally" and "Dancing in the Street" would probably be...

...somewhere between #101 and #110 on my list of favorites.

As for Edwin Starr's "War," it didn't come out until 1970 and was therefore ineligible for this list. However, when I get around to my top 100 '70s Soul records, I plan to rank "War" at #2, just behind Marvin Gaye's sublime "What's Going On."

8. Great list of songs!

One of my all-time favorites is Wilson Pickett's version of "Hey Jude" I love the way he expressed his style with it and maintained the integrity of the song at the same time.
