2. I would connect it to an external monitor to see if it's the laptop screen
that's fried. If the external monitor displays ok, you probably broke the LCD. Without seeing it, it would be pretty hard to tell though.

4. Youd be suprised how many LT problems are discussed online
if you just google groups/web. I had LT problems and all I needed was a burst of air in my fan to get the dust out and keep things cool.

6. I'm starting to wonder about that, too.
It's on a lot ... maybe it got too hot? It's possible that the fan is dusty or has cat hair in it.

5. Well, this is really strange.
I hooked it up the external monitor and both screens came on. What does that mean? I shut it down again ... I'm sort of afraid to run it right now.

7. Go ahead and turn it on. I bet you kicked it into shape...
so to speak. Sometimes, the LCD can be wonky. If you switch between external and LCD and both, it can seem to "refresh" the screen. Sounds like you're probably ok.

8. Well, that was pretty scary.
Thanks for your help. I think I'll give it a little break today.

10. Yay! Glad it worked out for you.
I'd take henslee's suggestion and search online for your particular brand to see what problems others have with the LCD... along with what to do to rectify it. A can of air is a good start :)

11. Thanks. I've already started looking.
If a can of air is all it takes to make sure it's OK, that will be a good thing. :D

12. Thanks anyway, Neoma.
It's working for now and I'm going to do some research, now that the initial panic is over with.
