Boo-hoo! Commiserate with me - my friends SUCK.
I just moved 400 miles. I have loads of friends here, as I lived here for four years previously. People have been calling me off and on for the past two weeks, many before I was even moved. But tonight is my first Saturday night in town, and not a single friend called me. I am all alone in my new apartment, everything unpacked, nowhere to go. And I am only 26. Quite depressing. Conclusion? My friends SUCK!

3. Right Now...
... one of your friends is saying the same thing and wondering why YOU didn't call HER. I think you should be more assertive and take the bull by the horns. If you want to go somewhere, then call up someone and invite them to go with you.

4. I did
:(

I called like four people and left voicemails, and sent a few text messages, and everyone ignored me.

WTF?!

7. Yes. Well, It's Clear To Me Now... They All Hate You.
If I were you I'd never talk to any of them ever again. Ever ever ever! How thoughtless that NONE of them thought to include YOU! Who would want friends like that? I certainly wouldn't want friends who had other friends, I'd want to be their SOLE friend and I'd want their lives (or at least their free time) to revolve entirely around ME. Me me me! You certainly have some ROTTEN friends for not clearing their plans with YOU first. You definitely need some NEW friends!

8. I did post the OP tongue-in-cheek
But, yes, I think it is a bit thoughtless. I just returned to the US against my will after spending four years in the UK with an emotionally abusive partner who basically tricked me into returning to this country and then broke up with me. I lost my job, my house, my car, my pets - it was devastating. My friends know this and have been supportive. I'm just shocked that none of them thought to call me tonight to see if I wanted to go out. It's... weird. And it hurts my feelings, to be honest.

10. Mine Was Too.
Sorry you're feeling down. At least you've got DU. And when that's too snarky... you could find a good book, or a good movie... find a cozy comfortable spot to read or watch until you fall asleep. Take a candlelight bubble bath first. Have a glass of wine... and THEN find a cozy spot to read.

16. Saturday night is DATE night, not get with the girls night. You should
put together a brunch on Sunday and don't hold it against them.

So, did you quit the bank job and move again??? Without a job? Let's hear the saga.

12. We are all alone really
we come into this world alone, we die alone...

(bear with me, this is not as depressing a thought as you might think)...

as long as one is happy with one's own company, it doesn't matter.

I once read somewhere (and I'm sorry if I mess this up):

Solitude is like darkness-- at first you are afraid until you adjust and then there is peace in solitude.

Well, I think I messed that up. When I find the book I read it in, I'll post the correct quote!

I bet none of this helped you did it.

I think I only succeeded in embarrassing myself.

15. You too?
I was so excited to move to Dallas in 1994, as one of my best friends lived in the area, and other acquaintances lived nearby.

Not long after I moved up, best friend decided I annoyed her, and came up with some bullshit excuse to start being a real bitch to me. That was the end of that friendship.

The next several years were spent nose to the grindstone finishing school and working full-time, since I had nothing else to do. Probably a good thing, in retrospect. I was 28, so don't feel bad.
