1. I'm glad you're alright!
A few weeks ago MrMouse got hit from behind and pushed into the car in front of him. $20,000 worth of damage to his Corvette but thankfully no one was hurt!!

5. Yeah I avoided a crash on Monday
Or was it tuesday? I forget. Anyways, I was going straight off a roundabout, while the moran to my left, in the outside lane was actually going right (remember we drive clockwise round them). He was about half a car length ahead of me so he couldn't see I was there.

He wasn't even indicating right. :eyes:

Fortunately I am psychic, apparently, and somehow I knew he was going to do that, and so I braked just before he pulled his brainless manoevre. I still had to swerve and miss my exit to avoid him though, and go all the way round the island again.

 :hi:

10. I'm glad you made it unscathed.
 :hi:

Those roundabouts, billy! :D

My moran was stuck behind someone trying to make a left turn (remember, we drive on the other side of the road as you :P ) and as I came up on his right he suddenly decided he couldn't wait for the car in front of him anymore and started to pull out. This was just as I was coming up on him and would've had no time to stop. Luckily I honked at him and he stopped within inches of both our lives.

The adrenaline of it still has my joints all loose and my heart pounding a bit. :silly:

16. Yours sounds much more scary
If you were going fast then your accident would have been very nasty if he had actually pulled in front of you.

My accident would not have injured anybody, but it would have been an insurance pain in the arse.

He did it right in front of a police vehicle too; unfortunately it was a dog van so it did not get after the moran... :eyes:

So, yeah it would have been bad.

Why don't the police pull over the people who really need pulling over? :eyes:

39. It's really interesting.

We'll never accidentally meet at one of my favorite restaurants or watering-holes.
The geographical separation is huge! When I was much younger I hated taking a new date someplace I liked only to bump into them with a different date months later. x(

32. Been there
Edited on Sat May-13-06 12:47 AM by chookie
One day when I was walking to work on a sunny morning dressed in vibrant colors -- I was hit by a car coming out of a parking lot of a nursing home, at low speed. I got up, and the car impacted me again. I was screaming bloody murder and beating on the hood of the car! Eventually the driver became conscious of the presence of a human very nearly under her wheels, and stopped and stared at me rather stupidly. I bellowed -- watch where you're going, dear!

I had severe bruising on my ass (SPECTACULAR!) and ribs, but did not sustain any serious injury. I made an on the spot judgement that the woman who struck me was likely to be a sleep-deprived, over-stressed caregiver, so I did not pursue the case.

When I arrived at work, and told what I thought would be a unique story, I was told of quite a few hits or near hits with vehicles, which made me conclude that life as a pedestrian sucks.

The funny thing was -- a few weeks later, I was attempting to walk across a street near where the hit had taken place, when I recognized the car and the driver, who was waving me in front of her car -- and I thought -- gee, lady, I'm not going to give you the chance to run me over again....

I was ALMOST struck another time. I was crossing a side street, when a large truck which was making a left hand turn at high speed from a major road did not steer properly into the right lane, but crossed the line far into the left lane, where I was walking. We're talking inches between my life or my end as road pizza. A public bus driver witnessed the near run-over, and stopped to offer assistance -- but the asshole had fled the scene, and as I had NOT (luckily) been run over -- what recourse did I have?

36. Scary! I'm glad you were okay.
I almost hit a pedestrian once, but it was truly her fault. I was driving up this narrow almost alley in the city and I came up on a traffic light which was green. Parked to the side on the right was a UPS truck. I was going slow anyway because the road I was on really was small, but this woman suddenly came out from in front of the UPS truck against my green light. Thank goodness I was going slow because I was able to stop in time but that scared the bejeesus out of me.
