Just got back from my future daughter in law's graduation ceremony.
Sharon graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Sociology. She's a smart and sweet kid. I was honored to attend.
Now for the Rant:
The ceremony was held in the Cox Arena, which is on the SDSU campus. Its a new and top-notch facility.

Problem was that it was lit up like a rock concert. Dark in the seating area with dimly lit stage where the Dean and others made speeches. The lighting, or the lack of, made it almost surreal and terrible for taking pictures.

Being so far away made photography difficult. But they didn't hand out diplomas there. After the speeches ended they emptied the arena and everyone had to walk down the block to where the diploma ceremony was to be held. They herded us in the DAMN GYM! Crappy plastic folding chairs on a flat floor., making it hard to get a good shot. But that wasn't the full of it. Rather than having the grads walk up on the small stage where you can see them, by the podium, they handed them out briskly on the floor level. People were PISSED! You could hardly see the grads, and friends & relatives were fighting and pushing to get a good pic.

Come On, SDSU! You could have planned this a little better for the families. All you could hear were people complaining that they couldn't even see the grads. It really sucked!

But in spite of all, it was still a nice experience.
Here is Sharon after she received her diploma. Note the decorative folded dollar bills on her cap. Its a Filipino tradition I was told.

Here's the soon to be wed couple. My son Jason is 24 and will graduate next year with a degree in Journalism.
And Sharon's proud family.

You would think that an established school like SDSU would have it together a little better for the families sake.

3. Thanks for the pictures!
Great looking couple...smart, too! Wonder where the Filipino custom of the folded bills comes from...

:hi:
