Who put the 'United We Stand" flag sticky up there?
It reminds me of all the Expeditions I see that are covered with "Semper Fi" "Support Our Troops" and military insignias.

Oh well :eyes:

13. It was stolen by the Freeps.
That expression was put forth as a response to 9/11 and our united response as a country to the terrorists. It was then was continued as a rallying cry as we went into Iraq. Many Freeps use it as a stick to imply that we are not patriotic if we do not stand behind the war in Iraq - which they think is a continuation of the war against terrorism.

I do not support the war in Iraq therefore I am not united behind this country's actions.

I would be overjoyed.

14. That's not my point - of course you can put whatever you want.
My point was that that expression was put forth as a response to 9/11 and our united response as a country against the terrorists. It was then was continued as a rallying cry as we went into Iraq. Many Freeps use it as a stick to imply that we are not patriotic if we do not stand behind the war in Iraq - which they think is a continuation of the war against terrorism.

20. Just clarifying my position
I wasn't trying to imply that everyone who had stuff on their car like that was a freep - I just am overwhelmed with Freeps in my area who think that stuff on their car is all they need to do to support the troops. I think it's just fluff.

So you bitch about on a DEMOCRATIC message board? Do you know that someone had to PAY for that sticky? :eyes:

Geez... Sometimes I think people just wanna bitch for the sake of bitching.

Edited on Tue May-23-06 02:51 PM by Mr_Spock
I was in the mood to bitch about something that just kinda irks me - it may not be fair, but it struck me as unusal for the DU. I posted in the Lounge as I thought people liked to occasionally say innapropriate or provacative stuff here.

I guess not :(

27. Look... I am not freakin PISSED or anything
I just think it's weird that you would bitch about a sticky that someone spend their hard earned dollar on. Can you imagine how it may make that person feel seeing a thread denouncing it?

"it may not be fair, " <----- yup, your right... it is not fair, especially to the person who donated.

Just sayin'.

22. I wasn't implying that it was a problem
I was more complaining about the "banner patriotism" that so many Freeps exercise - thinking they are more patriotic than the rest becasue they have more stickers than the rest.

I have a flag that says "Think, it's patriotic" and a "Support our Troops" "NOT BUSH" yellow ribbon on my car.

Just making lounge conversation - I feel like I'm in GD :(
