Who was the BEST teacher you ever had.
Edited on Tue May-23-06 03:13 PM by Odin2005
Mine was my 12th grade World History teacher, who had just started teaching. He's a moderate Republican, but is an extremely nice and funny guy. He allways joked around about being a teacher required a "vow of poverty."

Great guy, one of those teachers that actually loved the job and believed in his students.

2. His name was Norm.
The general science teacher.

First day in class he said; "Ask me questions so that I can learn how to teach you."

No question no matter how 'stupid' ever went unanswered.

3. Mrs Celestine Barnes, 4th grade language arts teacher.
She stayed after school with me once a week to help me improve my handwriting skills. I can still do rock perfect manuscript writing when I need to (and as a teacher, I often have to in order to write on the board examples of how my kids ought to be writing their own work.

5. Mrs. Evans, my first grade teacher,
was the best. She was fair and tough, but she was wonderful. :) She didn't take crap off the kids, but she knew when to have fun! I learned so much from her, and it was a great start to my elementary school education.

I have several others that were great, but Mrs. Evans was the best! :)

6. One of two history teachers....or my karate teacher.
My karate teacher (who i'm still taking classes from)is this smart, kind of quiet guy, and a great teacher. He also knows a lot about energy-movement, and beleives in all this mystic sort of stuff. He's really interesting to talk to.

Then there were these two history teachers. The first one acted all serious at first, but turned out to be sort of hippy-ish. Hated Bush, was the one in charge of this environmental-awareness group, and a lot of times he would ask questions at the beginning of class and the students would answer and we'd get into these really interesting discussions.

My other history teacher, who I had the next year, was way different. He had been a Marine and fought in Cuba, opposed the war in Iraq. Oh, and he also thought 9/11 was LIHOP. I liked to bother him with confusing questions. It was weird: we agreed on a lot of things, but even though he hated the Bush administration, he was still loyal to the government. For instance, he had been going to fight in Vietnam but broke his hip in Cuba. And I asked him what he would have done if he had been sent to fight in Vietnam, and if he ever would have disobeyed the commanders. And he said that there was no order that they would have given that he wouldn't have followed. So even though we agreed on a lot of things, we ulitmatley weren't on the 'same side', so to speak.
