So, who should be the Joker in the next Batman movie?
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 06:04 PM by nytemare
My vote goes to Johnny Depp, or Tim Curry.

On edit: Vincent Cassel might be good.

On edit edit: Had to remove one because I am a dumbass.

2. are they really recycling the Joker again?
I thought they would just do more villains...but I'd DEFINITELY go with Tim Curry. Amazing actor with a flair for comedic timing and evil charm.

4. Yep, at the end of "Batman Begins" there was a calling card left.
And Batman said he would look into it.

3. It would be hard. He'd have to play it completely insane if...
he wants to stick close to the comic, and not just jumping around laughing like Cesar Romero

6. Yeah, the TV show was pure camp.
Whoever it is has to play it dark, as well. I loved Nicholson. I read somewhere that Tim Curry was Tim Burton's second choice for the Joker. Curry might be a bit too old, now.

36. Not only NO FUCKING WAY, but NO GODDAM FUCKING WAY
I wish all the people vying for a funny, star-powered Joker would actually pick up and read a Batman comic book, for crying out loud. The Joker is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY. He's a frightening homicidal psychopath whose hackneyed jokes are pretty much funny only to him.

Almost 99.8% of the joy in Batman-Joker encounters is watching Batman kick the Joker's ass.

44. I've been a Batman fan all my life
I read a book about Batman that mentioned this movie and how Veidt's character was the physical inspiration for the Joker. This book had a picture of Veidt's character and it scared the bejeezus out of me, giving me nightmares for a week. I just now Googled it and what do you know, there it was.

Looks like I can look forward to nightmares again. :scared:

Now, whether they made a poster of Conrad Veidt back in 1927, I don't know. The guy's image certainly left an impression on Bob Kane and Bill Finger.

Edited on Mon Jun-05-06 01:01 AM by fujiyama
I think Chris Tucker is an interesting idea. There's no requirement the character has to be white. I felt that Michael Clark Duncan wasn't a bad pick as Kingpin in "Daredevil". But too bad it was Afleck playing Daredevil, and the movie sucked donkey balls.

35. David Tennant , maybe, though the Dennis Leary pick above is interesting
Given the stellar cast and the dark bent, it may be over Leary's head, though.

David Tennant is the new Doctor Who, and played Bartie Crouch in The Goblet of Fire.

38. Johnny Depp, and this is why
If Johnny Depp is cast as a reinvented, if you will, Joker, then it might make it more likely that Tim Burton returns to the franchise, if just for one more. Burton has made hands-down THE best of the franchise, although "Batman Begins" was a nice addition. It's starting to wash away the stain of Joel Schumacher's efforts to kill the Batman movies.
