Class VP arrested after coming late to graduation
Class VP arrested after coming late to graduation

For Maquisha Cosey, vice president of Thornton Fractional North High School's class of 2006, graduation day is not one she'll soon forget.

And not for any of the sentimental reasons.

It's the day that Cosey, who was listed on Friday's graduation program as the leader of the pledge to the flag, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct after trying to participate in the ceremony despite being denied entry for being late.

"I know that this shouldn't have happened to me. It shouldn't happen to anyone," says the graduate.

Instead of celebrating her big day, she spent the evening at the Calumet City police station being fingerprinted and photographed because Principal Dwayne E. Evans, the Cosey family claims, was angry someone had let her into the ceremony after the doors were locked.

It was also her 18th birthday.

3. Good grief, between this and the Fayetteville story
WTF is wrong with Administrators??? The graduation is for the kids, not YOU, no matter how much you want to think it is. SCrew you. Especially to good kids like this girl and the one in Fayetteville. Sickening. Good kids who actually want to participate in their graduations, but then are treated so pettily.... there's a special place in Hell (although I don't think it exists) for public school administrators.

She wanted to lead the PLEDGE, for God's sake!

4. We hear these infuriating stories about brain-dead educators . . .
Every few weeks or so. Often, it turns out that when you hear both sides of the story, it's not such a huge injustice after all. It usually comes down to an educrat being unable to reasonably determine when rigid rules need to be balanced with common sense.

I'll wait for the follow-up on this one, but it looks like stupidity colliding with emotion. Volatile combo, for sure.

5. What is wrong with school administrators?
There is always some ridiculous zero-tolerance shit like this going on. Are they so fucking brain dead they can't think anymore, or what?

6. We should have zero tolerance on new funding :)
That might get them to perform a little better. Or better perhaps - zero tolerance on the job. Make a mistake, fired on the spot (and arrested just for fun) ;)

7. More guns, more guns, more guns!!!!
I do not understand why anybody would put owning stockpiles of guns over living like this. It is absolutely insane.
