Stupid customer!
Working in retail, I read through the website "Customers Suck.com" all the time and this has to be one of the WORST stories I've ever read on that site! It was posted by a guy who works in a guitar shop and is an ongoing saga. Check this out:

"The aforementioned 5 year old has wandered off. Uh oh. Now, at our store, guitars are hung on our back wall on racks that hold five instruments each. There are about 30 of these racks, and they extend in rows across the wall and from floor to ceiling. This is about to become important. Suddenly, we hear another customer literally shout "WTF is that kid doing?" We all look at the back wall, and we see that the little terror has managed to climb the guitar racks all the way up to the ceiling, maybe 10 feet off the ground. His mom shrieks at him to come down, so he swings his legs down, apparently ready to jump (too bad he didn't). Didn't matter though, cuz a second later the entire rack rips out of the wall and drops onto our nice hardwood floor. With it comes the stupid little kid (sadly unhurt), and, more distressingly, 5 of the absolute nicest guitars in the store. Guitars are not built to withstand 10 foot falls onto hard surfaces..."

<snip>

"all 5 had their necks snapped off and bodies cracked, and were, for all intents and purposes, destroyed. The mother looks like she's about to faint, but only for a split second. Then she does possibly the worst thing she could do under the circumstances: SHE GRABS HER KIDS AND RUNS OUT THE DOOR. Needless to say, plates are noted, authorities are called, and this SC will be having a very bad day sometime soon. And I do mean a VERY bad day. Here's what she's hopefully gonna get to pay for:

1974 Fender Stratocaster: $2200
1978 Les Paul Standard: $2100
1957 Fender Telecaster: $3050
1977 Fender Jaguar: $2650
2006 PRS 22 (Customized): $4900

Grand total: $14,900"

Jesus Christ! :wow::scared:

1. That's called....
"A store I wouldn't allow my five year old to even enter."

If by some chance I had a level of brainfart to forget that, he wouldn't be leaving my side, let alone climbing the walls. What the Hell was she thinking!? :eyes:

2. You gotta love it -
Parents who let their little darlings loose in stores - ugh. I've seen them eat food, rip open boxes, throw stuff on the floor - meanwhile the parent acts like it's normal behavior. Gee, is this a public playground? She'll probably try to sue your store.

5. She actually did try to sue that store...
In an update to the story, the original poster said she came back in after a week of trying to contact her and said she didn't owe them anything because there was no sign on the wall saying "No Climbing". :rofl: Can you believe THAT??

7. Having been married at one time
to a musician who owned an original Les Paul gold top and whose bassist also played around on a 57 Telecaster (and both of who would kill before allowing anyone else access to those guitars), I just want to cry for the destruction of those. Even more than the monetary values are the value of the workmanship in them.

:cry:

9. SO sad.
:(

What a waste.

Now, I have a little boy, and there are SOME stores where I let him run around. NEVER in a guitar shop or music store of any kind! Good Lord!

She'll probably file a counter claim saying there were no warnings signs posted and now her child has been traumatized by the whole incident and needs counseling. In this country when it comes to lawsuits, the crooks usually win. It's like the stories you hear about burglars that injure themselves on someone's property while trying to break into a business or a home then files a lawsuit against the home or business owner's insurance company. You and I both know that our legal system is full of dip-shit judges that want to protect the burglar's rights they will award punitive damages in favor of the so-called, victim of society and this business/property owner out to get them. Don't ever think because it happened to someone else that it can't happen to you.

17.  15 GRAND IN DAMAGE ON THOSE GUITARS!!!
ARE YOU F_____G KIDDING ME!

A 74 Strat, a 78 Les Paul. Guitars made in the 70s are the new "vintage" instruments. You should see some of the prices guitars of same make and age are getting these days! These sound like pretty conservative estimates to me!

Worst of all, a 1957 Fender Telecaster. The loss of that one is truly a tragedy. You just can't replace those. Depending on its condition that guitar could be worth tens of thousands of dollars. Some of them are bought as investments and not to play.

I think I'll have a moment of silence for all these guitars.
