What are you getting dad for Father's Day?
I have to buy twice. Once for my dad and once for my step-dad. They are two entirely different men. My dad likes to cook, go to dog shows, and work in the yard. My step-dad likes fishing, tools, and wood working. I bought my dad a gift certificate to a local grocery store. I bought my step-dad a gift certificate to a local tool store.

Gift certificates aren't the most creative gift, but they will ensure that my dads get something that they really want. It also makes shopping for gifts a hell of a lot easier.

1. my Dad is 81 and just bought a computer...
So, I'm giving him a golf game that he loves to play (at my brother in law's). He plays it every chance he gets. I'd love to get him a teach typing program but hey, at 81 he can hunt and peck till his heart's content.

2. If he starts writing a lot like at message boards
His typing will improve quickly on its own even with the hunt and peck method. I type with only my index fingers, but I bet I'm up to about 40-50 words a minute.

12. I type in advanced hunt and peck
I started with hunt and peck, but now I've memoried where all the keys are. I don't even think anymore, my fingers just move on their own. And I'm still faster than all but one of my friends :D

of "The Searchers."

9. We got Skip's dad a card and a gift card to Target.
It's the one of the dogs playing poker. They go there alot, and he usually waits for stuff to go on sale before he buys. Now he doesn't have to.

10. Lonesome Dove on DVD
He mentioned at my daughter's wedding that he loves it and would like to own it so I'm going to surprise him. Usually I get him a book so this will be a little different.

11. I'm the only dad around here.
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 07:48 PM by NNadir
My boys are taking me to see "An Inconvenient Truth." I'm paying since they're 7 and 11. I hope the 7 year old can sit through the whole thing.

He's pretty good sitting through Nova, and generally asks very good questions. Maybe I should take them to a kid's movie.

My dad, sadly, is gone.

13. Our daughter got her daddy
a Sony video camera for Father's Day. Of course, I had to pay for it since she is only 3, but he'll have a blast taking videos of her and showing them to me when I get home from work (I work and he stays home with the kidlet).
