I just saw an albino squirrel
on my walk home from the store. Does it mean anything?

2. Lucky you!

I've never seen one except in a photo. I'll bet it was gorgeous, though!

4. It's pretty...
I love albino specimens and humans, the fur/hair is so pretty and I wish I could have white hair like that.

3. It means, due to a genetic malfunction during gestation,
the offspring of ma and pa horny rodent ended up colorless. The red eye being related to the structure of the eye and as such independent of the albino condition. After all, if you sliced it open, the blood would still be red.

And now I'm going to go throw up. Fathoming visuals of what I type is generally not a good thing; even considering the things I typically talk about... :spray:

5. We always have a least one albino squirrel...

in our neighborhood, so I guess it's a genetic trait that keeps getting passed down.

We also have a tail-less squirrel who has lived in our yard for a couple of years. He's a tough guy...I've seen him attack a big rabbit that ventured onto his turf. I think he's cute, but my teen-aged daughter says, "EWWWWWWWW!"

6. could be an escaped pet
they do occur naturally but many are captive bred as pets, if it acted unusually tame, i might consider trying to see if there is a place to report a lost pet, like putting up a sign at the supermarket bulletin board or something

if someone is wondering where it is, it might or might not be helpful

i wouldn't try to trap it myself tho, in case it was wild and belonged where it was
