My morning began with one of those chain reactions
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 07:31 AM by GoddessOfGuinness
that makes it impossible to get back to sleep. The dog woke me up, whining to go outside; so I let him out, then went into the bathroom. Someone left a wad of toilet paper and all kinds of nasty business in there, so I flushed. Then the front door opened, and the dog came back inside. Not wanting to let bugs in, I went to close the door. By the time I returned to the bathroom, of course, the toilet had overflowed. So I grabbed the plunger, cleared the drain, and mopped up the floor with a rag towel, having to pee the whole time. Then I realized the hem of my nightie must have skimmed over the top of the toilet, because it was now wet. So I said, "Fuck it." got dressed, and started the day 2 hours earlier than usual.

Post your amusing chain reactions here.

1. mmm
sounds like parenthood to me!

I too woke up early after a really bizarre dream, and spent an hour pondering the mysteries of the universe. Then I tidied up, made coffee, put in a load of laundry and printed out a report.

no plunger as yet, but the day ain't over! Remind me to tell you some plunger and other appliance disaster stories from my childhood and current existence!

Any mysteries solved? :D

17. um I decided that some members of my family
needed psychiatric help, but I didn't have to go far to reach that conclusion! ;)

I also pondered some of those curious questions about being a woman at midlife, but that probably will take more than an hour to figure out!

Then I pondered what to wear!

9. Your day sounds just about like mine so far...
I had an odd dream about a snowstorm and then woke up and did the EXACT same things you did...down to the report even. Except I had to take my daughter to driver's ed as well.

We're about to get hit with a mega storm system here. :hi:

30. I woke up early after a weird dream too!
It was about one of my friends at work. It wasn't sexual but it was definitely romantic. And while I think he's really cute (he kinda looks like Noah Wylie) I've never thought of him that way before. Now I keep blushing when I see him. God, it's like junior high.

Plus I keep dozing off at my desk because I got up too early. Oy vey.

2. I feel your pain!
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 07:31 AM by NewWaveChick1981
 I've had a few, but the best one was in the late 1980s. I was getting ready for work and was still sleepy. I went to the kitchen to fix cereal and pulled out a bowl and spoon. I put the cereal in the bowl. I reached into the fridge for the milk, and the fun began! :eyes: I uncapped the milk jug (thankfully it was plastic), and I lost my grip on it. The jug hit the floor (taking the cereal with it in the meantime), the milk sprayed the ceiling, and there was cereal all over the floor. Milk dripped down EVERYWHERE! :( My dog was watching the whole thing waiting for me to take her out. She looked at me like I was insane while I cleaned all of this up, at 6 AM. :eyes: That was NOT fun!

but alas, the dog I had at the time wouldn't have anything to do with it. She was scared! :yoiks: I guess flying cereal and milk can be terrifying...

4. Not exactly a chain reaction, and not exactly amusing, but
Our cat, who is scheduled to be fixed monday is in heat. meow, meow Meow, Meow, RRRrawwww. MEOWWWWWW. (some unindentified cat words) RRRrawww. MEOW, something that sounds like "help" (I don't know how she makes that sound) Loudly, right outside my bedroom door.
I work nights, it's my day off, so my sleep clock is screwed up. I had planned on sleeping until about ten, but nooooooo. 04:30. Eyes Wide Open. Now I need to do what I have to do on 2 hours of sleep and then go back to bed, or wait until my sleep cycle asserts itself.

So I came here. She's up here now. She followed me, poor baby. And it begins again, meow meow...

Happy Summer Solstice!!! :bounce: :woohoo: :bounce:

Like you, I'm up early. I was up before 5am, actually. Had to pee, saw the light and how beautiful it was and decided to just get up. I was planning to get up at 5:30, but I'm feeling totally energized today. I'm gonna go get an early morning bike ride in and then hit the gym.

We leave for two whole glorious weeks in Maui in three days! Can't wait...

Aloha, baby!!! :pals: :loveya:

I wish you a wonderful day, despite its start.... :D

edit: spelling, duh. :eyes:

24. LOL!! That's funny.
the suitcases and duffle bags have been pulled out of the garage, the laundry's all been done and packing should commence today. It always takes longer to pack than I expect, so I'm really determined this time to have it be as stress-free as possible. Of course, yours truly has to supervise the kids' packing jobs as well. Two weeks is a loonng time, but truthfully, we shouldn't need too much, considering all we'll be wearing are our swimsuits most of the time.

:hi: Hey, next time you're in the SF area, touch base with me. We're only an hour and a half south...It would be cool to hook up! :hi:

my husband kept saying, "I want to live here! Why do we have to go back to Pittsburgh?" He's still saying that. And I answer, well, do you have several million dollars? ;)

We have good friends there and we loved SF, so I suspect we will be back. I'd love to meet you and hang out some day.

15. Everyone was up before dawn thanks to our Golden Retriever's skin allergy.

Then the coffee pot overflowed. I guess my house mate didn't empty the carafe last night before setting it up for this morning.
The AC service man showed up this morning a day late.
And it isn't even 9:30 yet.

I'm sorry but your day started off much worse than mine! I hope the rest of today makes up for the off_to_a_bad_start!

Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 02:55 PM by GoddessOfGuinness
This morning seems like last week. I'm trying to plan my little guy's birthday party in only a few days. I had counted on having 2 full weeks to clean up the house and get everything together; but then I was called for 2 weeks worth of gigging at the last minute, so I had to totally re-think the party. Flexibility is such a gift!

19. I dreamed your morning...seriously..this is freaky!
This AM, my dream before waking was the dog wanting to go out. So I let her out, then looked at the toilet. It was full of paper and "business". I flushed it, checked on the dog, and then went back to the bathroom (not my bathroom in dream...this one had terra cotta colors in it.) The toilet was overflowing, so I stopped it at the tank float, and had to use the plunger. All the time doing that, was making sure to avoid getting my jammies wet.

Seriously...this is what I dreamed! Very weird!

26. What is it about dogs and chain reactions?
Our greyhound bitch decided at 2:30 am that she needed to go out RIGHT NOW. So I got up and let her out in the back yard. She came back in and beat me to the stairs and the bed, so I had to get her off, trying not to wake the husband, because if I do, he won't be able to get back to sleep quickly (at least according to him) and will be tired in the morning and he has to watch the kid. As the bitch is getting off the bed, she steps too close to the senior whippet who is under the blanket curled up next to the husband's legs. Senior whippet growls and snaps, awakening the junior whippet who is curled up under the blanket a bit higher up husband's torso. He takes the opportunity to move - higher up in the bed, flopping down against the headboard with his butt on husband's neck. Husband wakes up, mutters "damn dog" and falls back asleep. I crawl in bed, carefully making sure not to touch the senior whippet, which is difficult because he is no longer curled up, but spread out under the covers, and put pillow so that junior whippet is not covered by it, making sleeping uncomfortable for me. But I have not awakened the husband! Or at least not so much that it counts because he is snoring the snores of the dead asleep right next to me. However, just as I am falling asleep, the Siberian Husky comes in and pokes husband to let him know that he to go out. I was just downstairs 10 minutes ago with a dog that wanted to go out and did the husky bother then - noooo. He has to awaken the husband to let him out. Husband grumbles, goes downstairs and lets husky out. Because it's warm out, husky doesn't stay out and husband comes back to bed, falls asleep in under 3 minutes flat, leaving me wide awake. I finally fall asleep at 5:30 am, big whoop, since I get up at 6:10 anyway to go to work. But at 5:55 am the 3 year old comes in, and giggles in her daddy's ear, crawling over me to do it. So I turned off the alarm, kissed her, kissed him, petted the puppies, got dressed and went to work.
