1. She reminded me of my mommy
My mom was pretty dingy, but very sweet... heart of gold. My Dad worshipped Archie Bunker. LOVED his crass humor and rude comebacks. Now and then, my mom would snap back at my Dad just like Edith did to Archie.

2. Welcome to DU Lisa!
Thanks for dropping in this  thread.

Bet it was fun growing up in your house! :-) That was my Dad's favorite show, although he is not like Archie in any degree.

12. That show scared the crap outta me!!!
I was like 12 or 13 then, and didn't know what "rape" was. I knew some kind of crime was going to be the storyline, but I was expecting a robbery or something. it was the first moment that I ever comprehended that someone could force a person to have sex. and I barely knew what sex was at that time. It was a pretty shocking show, for that time.

13. very shocking!
It broke so much ground. Much as things have changed today, you still won't find a sitcom that deals with such sensitive topics the way that one did.

22. That's a stunning episode.
When Edith is running from the house, you can hear the audience cheering her on (and I think you can hear people saying, "Run! Run!"). I have to admit, I get a little teary watching that scene.

18. I think Rob Reiner wore that wig after the first season.
Check out his hair in one of the early episodes sometime... then compare it to his hair in one of the later episodes. If that's not a rug, I'll eat my hat.
