Okay, so I've watched a few episodes of "House" now.
I like the House character a lot. Disgruntled, acerbic witted misanthropic geniuses are always fun, especially when cast as a doctor.

However, the medicine in the show is SO WAY OUT THERE compared to anything real that it makes it a bit hard for me to watch.

Even wackier than the "Chicago Hope" medicine.

Perhaps I'll watch the occasional episode when the subject matter seems interesting.

1. Never seen an episode.
And I never plan to. I just don't feel that I could follow one more show, combined with what you said, and that medical shows just piss me off for some reason.

I could try to watch the occasional episode like you, but I'm more of an all-or-nothing kind of person. I don't go halfway on any TV show. Either I watch every episode or none of them.

2. I can't get past Hugh Laurie as Bertie Wooster
in the BBC "Jeeves and Wooster" series, which was wonderful in its first two seasons. Laurie was perfect as Bertie, and Stephen Fry made an excellent Jeeves. The series jumped the shark a bit in its final season, but several episodes are flawless classics. Besides, I hate medical shows. Too much time in hospitals, I guess.

3. It actually grew on me after a while
being in medical research, I agree with you - the techniques and methods they call "medicine" couldnt even be found in a five-year-old's 'play doctor' sketch.

But Laurie is SOOO perfect as the cynical cripple physician who just cant stand the lack of discipline and experience of the intern lackies he's responsible for teaching.

The show thats intollerable is ER. Blah.
