Help me remember a short animation from 20+ years ago
Back before the USA network became indistinguishable from 100 other cable channels, they used to run a program called "Night Flight" on Fridays aroung 11:00 pm, I believe. They'd show rare videos and strange old cartoons and that kind of stuff.

One short animation involving a devil and a troupe of various animals, some of them sort of humanoidish, and representing both mythical and mundane creatures (if memory serves). The devil had a long, sort of flaccid nose that I recall to wobble a lot, sometimes actually flopping into his mouth. At the time I identified him with this picture:
I think that the film was black and white and didn't include any dialogue. It was stop-motion and was probably under ten minutes in length.

The only other thing that stands out in my memory, aside from the fact that it creeped the hell out of my pre-teen brain, was a little frog character that played a concertina.

My memory must be from somewhere between 1981 and 1983, but the film could have been recent or much older.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? I've been trying to find/remember more about it on and off for two decades! Please help!

2. Thanks for checking
That's about as much luck as I had! :( I don't even know if the St. Dunstan connection is real or imagined, but the image of the pendulous nose resonated in both, so they're stuck together in my head regardless!

5. Holy shit! I think I found a reference to it!
But the all-time greatest has got to be that old black and white stop-motion animation short that took place in and around Hell, where the Devil keeps flying around and creeping up on people. He's really flat and thin like a piece of paper and able to slip underneath doors and stuff. He's a bad bastard and does all sorts of intensely evil and torturous deeds to unsuspecting stop-motion folks. Anyone remember THAT one? I'd give anything for a tape of that.

That's as close to a direct hit as I've scored during my entire search! And here I was beginning to fear that I'd imagined the whole thing!

How in the world did you find it, based on my half-assed and barely remembered description?

Welcome to DU by the way, and thanks!

I searched on and off for years with no luck--you got skilz to pay da billz, that's for sure.

Now I'll have nightmares for another 25 years, but at least I'll know the source by name!
